It's a post-bac program (no pre-reqs taken). It is the inaugural class. I applied over two months ago and have had no response. I did get into the Georgetown program but would consider going to the UVA program to take adavantage of in-state tuition. Has anyone been accepted to the program yet?

I was accepted- It sounds like its going to be a GREAT program- i would contact dr. fornadel and he should be able to help you regarding your application. i visited both he and then other admission officers in the med school and the program is VERY organized and set to have all of its students succeed- im excited. let me know if you have any other questions or if any of you are going as well!

Emorygranger - I was also accepted to the UVA post-bacc program - but I'm still waiting to hear if I'm accepted to another school.

The UVA program looks really exciting, but I don't know much since I never actually visited or interviewed. What did you talk about with them when you were there? Also, why did you speak with med-school admissions people? Are they involved in the post-bacc program?

I'm also wondering what your background is like - I'd like to know what my potential classmates will be like. I graduated college in '05, majored in music and psychology. I'm from Virginia, too. Are you?

Thats hilarious as I was ALSO a psych/music double major, but Im from GA and went to Emory University in ATL. I talked w/ the med admissions ppl to get my foot in the door and just get an idea of how they structure their education regarding medicinal relations w/the school- they kept saying that they arent affiliated w/the program however the asst. dean really helped to design the program. They also have an MD thats the head advisor for the students and then others from the community as well as professors of the classes that provide outside tutorials and resources. The labs are separate from other pre-meds and only for post-bacs. They have an MCAT prep course thats probably going to be kaplan or something but will be offered. Dr. Fornadel was very helpful in outlining specifics. If you have other questions, feel free to get in touch. the reason i chose this program over the others is that its their first year and theres no way that UVA will not have its first class fail. They really want all of the students to succeed.
