I know there have been threads posted about this topic. I am just getting many mixed answers. I am very interested in Bio Anthro and would like to add it as a minor/ second major (in addition to Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from UC Davis). However, I am halfway through my 3rd year and I really need my science GPA to increase. My pre health advisor told me that if I believe that the course was more than 50% biology, than it can count as BCPM. She seems tho think that I can count most of these courses as BCPM. I am just not sure if I want to risk adding an anthropology minor and having all of these courses not count towards my science GPA. Has anyone had any luck with counting these courses in BCPM?

I was a Physical Anthropology major and I didn't have any problem counting those classes towards my sGPA. I had classes like Anatomy and Human Evolution listed under the anthro department, so when filling out my AMCAS application, I self-reported those to be under BCPM. My pre-med advisor said if anything, they would simply change it during the verification process, and then I would have to complete an appeal and include a course description. But, that didn't even happen and it was accepted the first time around.

Anatomy and Human Evolution, from the above poster, sound like BCPM courses. Bio anthro or medical anthro do not. Unless your courses have a deceptive amount of actual science and biology, I would put good money on betting that AMCAS would change your entry to discount these classes as BCPM.
