What in the world is a step advisor?

Someone who helps a student devise a plan regarding step prep. There are actually tutors out there who will teach you how to take the exam, devise a plan of attack that is tailored to your needs.

For instance, like the guy who posted after you doesn't understand, is that some people do better with questions versus straight up reading etc. So there are people who will work with you to determine how many questions you should do while leaving enough time for review etc. For instance, I use firecracker. Some people don't. That in of itself takes a new angle regarding board studying, etc. Someone who goes into step prep thinking "memorize FA, pathoma, uworld" will most likely pass, but considering it's the step exam, maybe a little more planning is required haha.

Sounds like you don't need an advisor then

I acknowledged that his approach to learning and study plans being consistent for everyone is facile, therefore I don't need an advisor? Disagree!

if I send you my score report, and then tell you uworld FA pathoma, will you send me money then?

You must have money to blow huh? Who has cash for such things. You buy some board review books and you study your ass off. It's not a difficult idea. Here is a good schedule injust don't made up:

Week 1: study ass off.
Week 2: repeat week 1 until ready.

There's been about 4 posts and all of them were critical and overly-dramatic. Why people insist on commenting on things they have nothing positive to contribute to on a medical forum is beyond me

Anyone have an actual response to my question?

memorize FA, pathoma and uworld

paypal plz.

there's no magic, it's all about the work you put in

You either haven't taken the step or you're really foolish lol

Pathoma didn't exist when I took step 1, but that is what I did and he is absolutely correct. There is no magic. It is about putting in the hours to study for a relatively regimented test. I have taken the steps and did 'reasonably' well on them. Also, given the hundreds of students and applicants I have come across since I took step 1, it has been pretty clear that virtually everyone has a similar perspective.

While I certainly agree that people learn differently, the reality is that it is not nearly as divergent as you make it sound. Virtually every single student will benefit from doing a lot of questions, not only from a content perspective, but also from a 'test practice' perspective. I understand that you consider yourself a special snowflake and think that you need something tailored to you specifically. If you have the money to burn, go for it. However, given that you have been a student for 18+ years now (K-12, undergrad, 2 years of medical school), one would hope that by this point you have a pretty good understand of how you study best. If nothing else, that is hopefully what you got out of undergrad.

Keep the free bumps coming! And if any of these people scared you off from answering my question, you can PM me.
