Anyone having trouble deciding?

Since alot of you have mutliple acceptances, are you having trouble deciding which school to attend?

I thought I had my mind set on a school, but visiting and interviewing at these schools made them all relatively equal to me now. This means that now I really am not sure where to go.

Here's where I've been accepted:
UHSCOM
AZCOM
MSUCOM

and I'm waiting on
COMP
CCOM

Nope. I interviewed first at my top choice and received an acceptance letter a couple of weeks later. I then cancelled interviews/withdrew all my applications.

Is this so you can report to my brother on my progress and activities since my brother won't be nearby?

I KNOW he doesn't pay you to watch me.

Best board scores and you have choice to stay in KC for rotations or go to places like Florida, New York, Arizona, etc...

Also, if you go, strongly consider the 4year DO/MBA dual degree program. Especially if you have any interest in business.

How were you completely positive that AZCOM was the only school that you wanted to attend without having visited and interviewing at the other schools you were invited you? I thought I knew where I wanted to go up until I interviewed at these other schools.

UHSCOM is the only school that offers the DO/MBA degree in four years. They are very proud of this program. Negative part of this program though is that on top of taking your DO courses during the school year, you would also have to take th MBA classes during night 😱 !!! In addition, you would NOT have a summer break 😱 (and I KNOW how you love your summer breaks!) because you would be taking courses at Rochester University which is nearby. The courses are not actually offered at UHSCOM.

I suppose that you could be making some "sick" cash with this degree, although I would think that it actually has more to do with a person and their talent at making money. I don't really know. All I know is that I didn't enter into the business sector for one reason: I am not cutthroat enough to survive in this arena. I can't fathom the idea of competing with coworkers to advance and have to want others do fail so that I can get ahead. Although I am thankful that there are people out there who can do this job because it is necessary, I'm just not cut out for that type of work environment. An MBA would be great to have, especially with healthcare management continually changing.

P.S. DoHzA, It sounds like you have your heart set on AZCOM anyway...so why would you even want to think of UHSCOM when you know you'd be freezing your @ss off!!!

Actually, here at NYCOM we also offer the dual DO/MBA degree. I think it probably works the same way as it does at UHSCOM, in that you take night classes, most of which are in your 1st and 2nd year, followed by 2 or 3 classes in the last two years. Technacally you can get your MBA in 3 years, I dont see the point but, it all depends on how you schedule it

We also offer a DO/MS in Nutritional Science. For whatever thats worth.

I think I know where I want to go, but that place just doesn't exist on this planet. The weather of California with the people of the Chicago, the first two years of AZCOM with their facilities, and the rotation sites and options of CCOM and COMP. Do you know of any place like this that exists? Yeah, I know it doesn't exist. Oh well, I guess I can settle for the next best place, wherever that is.

Hi all,

I got an acceptance at COMP (which I thought was my first choice) but am flying out next week to interview at UHS-COM. I want to make sure I am not missing out on anything by staying in sunny SoCal... has anyone turned down COMP to go to UHS-COM, and why?

The dual DO/MBA degree program looks attractive and from what I've read of past interviewees, the school is very spouse/family friendly (which is great since I'm recently married) but I don't want to be thrown into random clinical rotations across the country... COMP seems more flexible?

Anyhow, any input would be greatly appreciated. It would be easiest to stay in SoCal, where I live now, but I don't want to turn down UHS-COM if it's going to offer me significant benefits I can't get at COMP. Thanks!

UHSCOM was a great school. I'm glad I interviewed there. I was going to cancel my interview at UHS when I found out I got accepted to AZCOM, but sometimes you just never know that you might actually like the school, hence the result of this dilemma. I pretty much liked most of the schools (except for MSUCOM). I am biased against COMP, not because it's a bad school, but because of personal reasons.

I recommend that you interview at UHSCOM. I really liked it there. Rotations do not throw you everywhere. i had a friend who graduated from there and he actually was based in Kansas City itself for the last two years for rotations. I think they give priority to those who are married and have families for location. I know MSUCOM gives a preference. UHSCOM probably does, too.
