Anyone heard from Mount Sinai recently?

I've been waiting to here from Mount Sinai for quite a while now so I was just wondering if anyone has heard from them. The only thing I've even seen about the school is the 2 people listed on the acceptance thread and they listed themselves over a month ago.

i interviewed 11/8 and haven't heard anything yet...the interview itself is really laid back, you actually have 2 interviews for about half an hour each. They really make an effort to make you feel comfortable there and they want you to leave knowing a lot about the school. 🙂

And the rooms they interview you in are tiny. Like 20 sq. ft. tiny - and they heat up like a mother in 30 minutes. The interviewers were really cool, and assistant admissions director was super nice. The interview itself is only a small portion of the day. There is a general information session with one of the deans, a financial aid presentation, a tour, an apartment visit, gym visit, lunch, and in the time between interviews, students are always stopping by to meet and greet. Really great day all in all. Take comfy shoes!

I interviewed 10/13 and called this Monday for my status. I got the standard "your file is still under review" line. I will not end up going there but I am still curious to find out my status.

it took me about 10 weeks to hear about an interview from when i submitted.
i have withdrawn, pre-interview, though, earlier this week.

I just got the acceptance email today (yes, on Sunday!). I interviewed 10/13, for what it's worth. Also, the interviews were some of my more boring ones, and apparently everything still went well...

There was a few people who were interviewed in Oct but accepted in March and April and heard nothing in between. In past years anyway, it doesn't look like they make an official decision after every set of interviews. If they are still functioning like that this year, then no decision may be still be ok. At my interview two weeks ago Kelli Bailey said that our group may be evaluated in this meeting of the adcom, or in the next one in another month. I think there is still hope, hang in there

yea it seems like they only evaluate once a month and chances are mine won't be for another month since I just interviewed. Those waiting months and months for responses ar eones they haven't made a definitive decision on yet and keep holding the application. Good luck everyone; it is an awesome school.

i interviewed at 11/8 and haven't heard yet but they told us they don't hold applications and just decide in a month or so..who knows?

i called to check on my application and the woman said they meet every tuesday...????

I've spoken with them and they do meet every Tuesday. BUT, not every interviewer can make it to every meeting and they won't bring up your file unless both of your interviewers are present. That can be what delays things sometimes. I think they also only send out notifications like once a month so if you're file is brought up the week after a set of notifications are sent, you still won't hear for a few weeks. And you only get an email if you are accepted....otherwsie, you get a letter in the mail.

scoops....I just spoke to kelliann bailey and she said they do not email you right away. Everything goes out in cycles....even if you look at the acceptance thread, there are only two different dates listed for 5 people.

OK I am not at home and do not have my materials in front of me. Is there a specific time designated by MSSM to call and inquire about your status? I remember a couple of my schools have such, but I have never called about status before. Thanks for the assist.

I'm pretty sure MSSM only allows calls on Mondays and Wednesdays between 2 and 4. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I submitted my secondary 9/16 and my letter packet was sent the following week, so they should have had all of my stuff by the end of sep. However, I was an Aug MCATer so my file probably wasn't considered complete until those scores were received mid-Oct. My stats are 3.75 GPA (3.45 BCPM) and 32 MCAT, in case you were wondering (and I've gotten several PM's asking, so I know some of you are).

Also, MSSM does say to call for status checks M & W, 2-4 pm EST. I don't know how helpful it is to call though, I called yesterday and was told my file was under review and I would hear something "in the next few weeks", then ~1/2 hour later I received the e-mail invite. Who knows?

Can someone make any sense of this?
I was complete at Mt Sinai about a month ago (I called to confirm status) but yesterday I got an email saying one Rec letter is missing. How can you have a file complete and under review if you dont have all the letters?
And this is the third time they have lost the same letter!!!!! 😡

What's the deal with MSSM? My application has been complete since september and I haven't heard anything from them. If they rejected me, I have no idea what they based it on besides that stupid optional essay (my stats are above thier average). Atleast give me a chance 🙁 . Oh well, hopefully I hear back from NYU post-interview soon in which case I will totally forget about MSSM.

Just so you know, the calling trick doesn't always work. It feels like I called them a month ago and all they said was 'A decision hasn't been made on your application yet'. Then again, if they told you your file was currently under review, then that would be different from my situation and I hope you hear soon!

Just to interject, I think right around now they get pretty caught up in their Humanities and Medicine applicants, since they need to know before they go back to school second semester in time to get out of science classes and change their schedules around. Maybe they get a lot done for the general pool right after those decisions are made?

actually, i think she told me my file was under review even though ive been complete there since september. i don't know if that's any different though.

Just to let you know, I interviewed there the first week of november and just found out that I have been waitlisted. Not sure if that helps, but at least it means maybe you'll hear soon! Good luck. It is a great school!
