Just wondering if anyone knows how NYU notifies applicants regarding acceptance/waitlisted/rejection. I had an interview there last week and they said that we'll know by the end of the week. Should I call??

I also interviewed there last week. I called the school yesterday, they told me that the letter will come early next week. By the middle of next week, if you do not recieve the letter, then you call the school. Please inform us if anyone recieve the letter.

I don't recall them giving us any specific numbers on how many seats were open or how many people were on the waitlist but I do remember them saying there was still a decent number of seats available. So, I think anyone interviewing through the month of February has a good chance at getting a seat rather than simply competing for a spot on the waitlist.

Yes I am planning on attending NYU. I've only been accepted to BU and NYU and I was more impressed with NYU. Plus I can't pass up the opportunity to experience living in NYC for a few years of my life 👍

I don't think so. I think it's just that they have too many applicants and don't want to offer interview to every one. They want to narrow it down to those really interested in attending the school.

Wow are you serious? I thought there were done interviewing this month? They are going through all of April?

Ya, I think a lot of it has to do with how many people accept their offer...but the admissions lady said it is possible that they may go into early May...I remember that because I'll be abroad in May and I was thinking how much it would suck to have to fly from a different country to NYU for a interview, and then get rejected haha.

Thank you so much for the information, Maka! I looked through older threads and found that they had given out interviews until mid april last year. So early May doesn't sound too far.

Maka, do you know if that means they won't re-evaluate the waitlist until they are done interviewing? I was told that they will re-evaluate the waitlist mid-March/early April, but now I'm starting to wonder?

Sorry, no specifics on those numbers. During the Q&A session at my interview I asked Dr. Mejia if there were any seats still open. She replied with a very curt, "Yes."
Doesn't seem like info any school likes to divulge.

Hey guys, I was just reading some of the earlier posts on this thread. I too got that email asking for a brief statement of my interests in NYUCD late in January and I think I responded early February. I haven't heard anything from them yet (I haven't been invited for an interview) and I was just wondering if there were any of you guys in the same boat? I called the school earlier today and the lady over the phone said that they are still processing those letters and will be having interviews through April, but I don't know how full the class is? Also, does anybody know roughly how many seats are offered per year at NYUCD? Thanks

There are about 225ish seats I believe in total. It's a huge class, and their waitlist is event longer ( about a couple hundred people). I just got invited for an interview yesterday which is super late, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to go.

Man I sure hope not, this waiting is tough. I was looking at last years NYU waitlist thread and it looks like someone was taken off the waitlist around the end of March. Lets hope it's the same this year!

The admissions office told me that the waiting list wont be reviewed until at least mid-April (when the second deposits from those already accepted are in). So i'd say it's going to be another 3 weeks before they start going through the waitlist.

The second deposits for NYU are due April 1st though. It was mentioned in another thread. So hopefully they will start going through it next week!

I just think its crazy how they are still sending interview letters out. Seems a bit late doesnt it?

And can someone inform what the difference is if you interview before Dec 1st as opposed to after??

You take your NBDE's in dental school not before 1 is either after first or second year and 2 is some time before you graduate. Maybe you are thinking of the DAT.

I'm in the same boat as well. I've been calling to ask about my status, but it remains 'undecided' as of yet. I emailed, hoping for a more concrete answer, and Helen Dowler responded with "undecided" as well. I have emailed her back, saying 'I've heard only Waitlisted are being considered, is that just a rumor, or..." so let's see what she says.
