I interviewed in mid November and am still waiting to hear from them. When our group interviewed, they said that they would start handing out many acceptances until January, but that we'd still get a letter updating us on our status within 4-6 weeks. I'm assuming that they thought they'd just hold on a couple of more weeks to give some interviewees a definate yes or not. Coming up on 8 weeks post interview for me.

Anyone who interviewed mid november or later hear from them yet. I called the office, and couldn't get much information on when they'd send out an update. Any OHSU news out there?

I received a letter in snail mail on 1/6 from OHSU and I interviewed with them in mid-november. My application is currently being "held." If I remember correctly from the orientation meeting in the morning, the associate dean said that this is a common practice to put applicants on hold. Additionally, the letter in which they sent re-affirms this idea as they will continue to interview people (altogether 525) through march and if the status of your application changes they will notify you immediately. I wish you the best of luck with them

Thanks. Best of luck to you too. I wasn't counting on hearing any definate acceptance new from them until after January (from what they said in the meeting), but I figured I at least either hear "hold" or "rejected" by now. I guess my mail's just taking longer to get to me. Probably in my mailbox this evening.

I interviewed mid-december and am still waititng to hear back too. I don't think the interview went that well, so the news might not be good.

They have sent out some acceptances- so you could get any type of news at any time, I suppose. It took them a month to get back to me- but they do have a reputation for being notoriously slow. My friend who is an M1 there now didn't hear back until June, I believe (she interviewed late however).

Hope you get some good news soon.

I interviewed a bit before Thanksgiving, and they sent a good news letter my way last week.

Best of luck to everyone! :luck: :luck: 👍

8 weeks does not equal 4 to 6. Getting frustrating... I just want to know my fate!

do you know when are Ohio State done with their interview? what is your impression of Columbus?

this thread is about Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland ORegon, not Ohio State University at Columbus. I like Portland fine, I've never been to Ohio in any meaningful way. (besides driving through).

Ok, for anyone else who was stressing the long wait time to hear back post-interview:

I interviewed mid November, got the word (on hold 😳 )last Saturday. That was a few days shy of 9 weeks post-interview.

Best of luck to the rest of yous.

As I understand it, with the exception of a fortunate few, most people who interview at OHSU get put on hold until May. So you probably have a good shot of getting admitted. I am expecting to be placed on hold. OHSU is hard to figure out - a close friend of mine with awesome grades and a great MCAT was admitted to Duke (where he is a first year) and was rejected by OHSU, as an Oregon resident. It seems like once you pass the GPA and MCAT threshold, OHSU does not care about your personal "stats" anymore. My grades and MCAT are significantly above the averages at OHSU but I do not have as much health care experience as many applicants to OHSU, so that could hurt me in the selection process. Oh well, we shall see.

Good luck to you.

As an Oregon resident I can also atest to this. Lack of health care experience means you are doomed before you begin at OHSU. For whatever reason they like people to have at least 6 to 12 months of health care experience and be 23 or older. Us young bucks applying straight outta college are definitely going to receive the short end of the stick from them. Hell I haven't even got an interview invitation. Oh well. Best of luck to everyone who has had an interview at OHSU already. It's a fantastic school.

They're also just really, really random. I think I got my interview invite to OHSU sometime in late January last year, so I wouldn't worry. The date that you interview has no bearing on your chances of being accepted, so even if you interview in April, you've got the same odds as everybody else.

I didn't get an interview invite last year until the tail end of Feb, and I think they were giving them out through March. You're only about 1/2 way through. Don't lose hope yet.:luck:

ruefer, have you considered calling them? 9 weeks seems like a lot, and it never hurts just to check up. If nothing else, it'll help put your thoughts to rest.

I say this because when I submitted my secondary, initially I did not receive their "complete" postcard, but when I called them they said I was indeed complete, and they would send out another which I got a few days later. So yeah, moral of the story, might be a good idea to call . . .

good luck :luck:

Thanks, I got the word last week (on hold)
