Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, but I have been reading for a few weeks. You guys are wonderful!!

Has anyone who interviewed at UCSD recently heard anything from them? I interviewed in February and have been checking my email on the hour hoping for good news. I've also been checking my mails dreading bad news. Please if you interviewed and have heard anything, let me know. How long do you think you have to wait post-interview to hear from them?

Thanks all.

call the admissions office and ask them when your file is scheduled to be reviewed. that way, you don't have to constantly check your mail. they also let you call back the day after your file was reviewed and inquire about their decision.

Thanks for responding. I did call UCSD to inquire. But I would like to know how long it took post-interview for ppl to hear? I'm especially curious about people who interviewed after the holidays.

Thanks again!

welcome to SDN. Dr. Resnik usually calls to inform you of your acceptance. if you have a message on your machine to call him, it's a pretty safe bet you've been accepted and he wants to congratulate you. i didn't experience the phone call. instead, i got a letter stating i was in the acceptable pool.

i've been told that ucsd is placing a lot of people in the acceptable pool until they get a good look at the applicant pool due to the amcas disaster this year. a few get an immediate (within a few weeks) acceptance, a few get an immediate rejection, and many wind up in the acceptable pool. their version of a ranked waitlist from what i understand. i've also been told most of the class will have been accepted from the acceptable pool at the end of the day.
good luck!!!!!!

Thanks again!•••••Hi Kim, I interviewed in the 3rd week of Feb and got placed in the acceptable pool in less than 3 weeks. I got the response in a form of a letter. I hope you hear some good news soon!

good luck!!!!!!•••••what does that mean for those who are still in the pool? :( <img src="http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif" alt="" /> :( <img src="http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif" alt="" />

ucsd is quick w/ a response post-interview. everybody i know of heard within 2-4 weeks. acceptable pool letters come via snail mail. outright acceptances most often come via a phone call from Dr. Resnik. people still in the a-pool are still in good shape and can be accepted at anytime. my understanding is that most of the accepted students will be former members of the a-pool.

i got my acceptance notification through e-mail (to call dr. resnik)

good luck, kim, hope to see you in la jolla... :)

I also interviewed in February. I just called this week and the office said it'd be 6 to 8 weeks before I would hear from the committee. Maybe they're behind these days?? (or maybe she wants me to stop calling for another 2 weeks.)

i interviewed mid january and got an e-mail from dr. resnick to call the admissions office during the first week of march. I got an immediate acceptance, but it took the committe about 6 weeks to review my file.

Keith, I think you are right in saying that the class will have been accepted from the acceptable pool because, as I understand, many people were accepted on 3/26. I'm guessing they did this to comply with the 3/29 deadline. (most who were accepted were interviewed in Jan and earlier)

Dr Q 6-8 weeks will put us who interviewed into May... :( Do you mean 6-8 weeks after interview date (as it took them 6 weeks to review CalBear's file)

It's the 6th week since I interviewed (mid Feb). Maybe in 2 weeks, we will hear from UCSD? :\

I'm glad baldness doesn't run in my family, cuz i'd be bald by now.

If anyone who interviewed in Feb hears from UCSD, please let us know, thanks.

Hey all! I have to interview at ucsd in april ( i received a late invitation but am still happy to go!) and I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice/warnings about the interview. DO they ask some ethical questions at the interview? Anyways, good luck to all (including myself, :D )and I am looking forward to seeing the school. Does anyone know what time the interview ends?

I interviewed 2/11 and have yet to hear anything from UCSD. So have all the outright acceptances been given out now since it is past 3/29? Or do I still have a chance to avoid swimming in the pool?

Oh and waiting, I got asked at least one ethical question. But in general the interviews were pretty relaxed.

Okay, I called the admissions today and they said that those in the a-pool will hear up till school starts (a-pool is just their form of waitlist)

I asked them if there was a specific date or day of the week where they send out acceptances, they said no because their admissions is rolling-in.

This seems to be inconsistant with what some of you posted... but then again, she told me this after I gave her my AMCAS ID <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

I called Yvonne yesterday and she said that my application will be reviewed this week. She mentioned that I should call back in a week time. I haven't heard anything from them since my interview in late February.

Hero: did you get a letter from them saying that you have been placed on the a-pool?

Kim, I did get a letter saying that I'm in the a-pool. They are going to review your application to see if you get accepted/a-pooled/rejected next week? Or are you already in the a-pool?

Hero,

I didn't get a letter from them. At this moment, I'm not sure where I stand. How long did it take them to send you a letter stating that you're in the a-pool?

Do they send you a rejection letter immediately? I'm really nervous now since I didn't hear anything from them. Yvonne told me that they are reviewing my file, but didn't say anything encouraging. Do you know if they're meeting this week or next week?

Jefe, if people of the accepted 3/29 WD, then there is a chance you won't have to drift in the a-pool. but my guess is that they won't be accepting more till pple start dropping.

Kim,
Their response was that they are rolling-in admission when I asked them if they have a specific date to meet... I felt that she was trying to not disclose anything though. I have speculations (i obsess way to much over UCSD :()

From what I've seen, most people hear in 2-4 weeks. But then again, those that hear 2-4 weeks get put in the a-pool. I don't know anyone who has been rejected post-interview.

Maybe the people that interviewed you are procrastinators and took longer than normal to write your review?

-OR-

MAYBE, like CalBear who got an immediate acceptance after 6 weeks, you will get one too! It did take them about 6 weeks to review his file while 2-4 weeks for others who got dumped in the a-pool. Good luck Kim!
