How were they? I'm thinking about joining both, and I am now a sophomore at UIUC, but I'm joing to join AED as soon as I can get my gpa over the requirement which is 3.2. Yes, freshman year was rough...

A Phi O was, at my campus at least, a service "fraternity" that didn't even really refer to itself as an actual fraternity.

It was basically the school's "community service club."

Yea, but I'd rather join that than some social frat and get screwed over lol

For APO, I'm sure it's a bit different for each chapter. For my school, it was really big and popular. We're talking about hundreds of people with big families and all of that. Just make sure you are committed to a few years in it. It takes up a lot of time and money to stay active. However, it would look nice if you took on a leadership role. I was only there during my freshman year and could no longer afford to pay all the fees and go to all the meetings, so I went on exploring other stuff. It's your decision.
How much did it cost you roughly?

I was a brother in APO for two years; there is a small initation fee and at my chapter semester dues were approx $45. Highly recommended!

AED is a pretty standard pre-med club and is really only worth any volunteering or leadership experience you get out of it. Depending on you school, they may have some interesting physician speakers/shadowing opportunities, so it may be worth joining.
