Hi, my question may sound stupid but I am so concerned about it. So please anyone.. tell me what I should do.

Would it affect my admission process in any way if I decide not to take classes (for the spring semester) when my PhamCAS states that some courses are in progress/planned??

Here's the situation.
I signed up for spring semester to take some classes and it will end on June 2nd.

And I just found out that I got accepted to Midwestern-Glendale, where the program would start on June 4th (orientation).

So I came across thinking about dropping classes for the spring semester since I already completed all my prerequisites anyway (I just wanted to retake my o-chem and take sociology for fun). and I rather want to get ready and prepare myself for the upcoming event.
But I already updated my PharmCAS academic window for my spring semester classes, (errr...I should've done it later) I don't know if it's going to be OK if i decide not to take them...

sorry for asking such a dumb question, but I am worried because I do not want this to jeopardize my admission process.

I appreciate your help/advice..

i think this would depend if your acceptance was contingent on completing your degree. however since you're taking a class for fun and retaking a class, it doesn't sound that way and that i don't see why you wouldn't be able to drop those classes

i think you should definitely ask the school in which you're planning to go to directly as it would be really terrible if the school retracts its acceptance because you were given the wrong information from a stranger

Since you are re-taking a course, I would contact the admissions office just to be safe. They may have conditions you have to fulfill. You don't want to get to the front door only to find out you left out one condition and have your admission revoked. They won't bite =) Just ask.

That is untrue. If the OP was accepted with the understanding that s/he would complete certain classes, then those classes need to be completed. A pharmacy school can withdraw acceptance if the student fails to meet pre-reqs. This is one reason that people on waiting lists get contacted well into the summer- applicants who failed to complete their pre-reqs aren't being allowed admission.

Actually, eelo is right in this manner. That is why, as I stated above, you should check with the school.

The person above never stated that the he/she had a C in the course (the course in this case would be ochem... the sociology course does not count since the student said that he/she was taking it for "fun" and therefore not a prereq.). If he/she had a C and it did not meet the requirement for the school, the school would have told the student at the interview or by other means that he/she needed to complete the prereq. with a better grade. Every school I have encountered gives you an academic progress report either via mail, email, or interview. They also show you on their website and pharmcas shows you the courses you must take and the grades you need in them for admission.

So bascially it comes down to the grade the student received in ochem. I am assuming the student did fine since admissions did not inform him/her that they needed to retake ochem (ochem is a major requirement so I am sure admissions would have said something to the student). I am sure the student does not need to take these classes but by all means he/ she should call the school and find out for sure if the school never made it clear.

Didn't admissions give you a phone number or admissions counselor you could contact to answer your question right away?

I called them but I guess I called after their office hours..no one answered the phone..I'll try tomorrow morning.
ahhh hopefully nothing goes wrong!!! 🙁
