Anyone here get Tulane's email for the 2005 entering class?

I'm not suprised that the class is nearly full...however they tend to pull a bunch from the waitlist from what I've heard.

They have an unranked waitlist. It's not based on the date you get put in it either. It's just a big pool. My tour guide there said that he interviewed in March, was waitlisted and a week later was accepted. They will have people withdrawing acceptances and if they will move people off the waitlist. If you really like Tulane go and show them how much you like the school. Just because you are interviewing later doesn't mean you won't end up with an acceptance.

I definitely deleted the email. I remember seeing it in my junk mail folder and thinking to myself "oh great. somehow the spammers found out I've been accepted to med school and now they're tailoring their junk accordingly"!

Guess it wasn't all that important though...thought I might be missing out on some second look weekend or something.

I was surprised too, at how many people were on the list, they've accepted a ton of people already! I have to say though, have med school admissions never heard of BCC? (MSSM anyone?) It was kind of interesting to see the schools people came from though.

To those who are still waiting to interview, I wouldn't be too worried. Tulane accepts so many people so fast, I'm sure that a lot of people (myself included) confirmed our place in the class, but are still waiting to hear from other schools and may withdraw eventually. I'm sure there will be room for lots acceptances in the next few months.

I agree. I think many people have confirmed but are not set and are waiting to hear from other schools or waiting for fin.aid. I wouldn't be surprised if half the people on that list withdraw.

I don't know for sure. My impression was that they continually review their "acceptable pool" and may take people off of it at any time. So, if you really want to get accepted there, I would recommend sending letters of continued interest/updates so they have to keep looking at your file. It seems as if the acceptable pool is fairly large, so you might have to make some kind of an effort to make sure you are being strongly considered. The staff at Tulane is SO nice, I don't think it would do any harm to call and ask them how the waitlist works.
