anyone here going to UOP?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just received a call as well!! It is my number one choice, but I am going to wait around to hear back from other schools as well. Excited!?

I just got a call back this morning as well. Not sure if I want to go though. I am still waiting for other schools as well. Congrats everyone.

i wonder if we all went to the same interview and if we were all in the same group... haha that would be cool! yeah im excited! i really want to go there ...but man... people call it the "U Owe Plenty" school... Im going to need to find a way to pay for it. let me know if you guys hear anything about any scholarships or grants..

There are a few scholarships offered to minorities pursuing a career in the rehabilitation sciences (i.e. PT, OT, SLP, etc..), but the deadlines passed already. The scholarships are also for only $1k-3k, so it won't really make a big dent in that "U owe Plenty" tuition of yours. I think they are also only for CA residents as well.

My interview was on January 30th and I think it was around 12:00pm. I don't remember my group number, but our group had two asian guys (including myself) if that helps. I'm starting to wonder now who made it in my group and who didn't because all of them seemed more qualified than me and I got in.

On another note, I had an interview at SMU the next day in Oakland and I saw two of my group members from UOP there as well. How ironic? Just wondering if anyone was in the same situation as me.

yeah dude i think that was me! hahaha! if we were in the same group..then maybe you would remember that im a laker fan.

Are you the bald Filipino dude? I think you were from Stanislaus. I kind of remember your name. It was like Noah, Moses, Duke, Luke?? It was something biblical sounding...lol

hey guys! i just got into UOP and Western U in Pomona, CA. I got a big decision to make...there are actually a lot variables that I have to consider such as cost, location, curriculum etc.

Congrats! Did you apply to any other programs or are these your only choices? I would say go to Western because it is cheaper, but I don't know where you live or any other information about you.

Thanks! I actually applied to a lot of other schools, but these have been the only two so far that have accepted me. I am having an extremely difficult time deciding between the two. Does anyone know the current tuition rate @ Western U?

There are many variables right now that affect my decision. I live in Seattle, WA but ALL of my family live in the Bay Area and I have been wanting to go back for a long while now. UOP is 2 yrs vs. Western is 3 yrs; I also want to compare the amount of clinicals offered and also when in the curriculum and whether or not each school is biased towards research or manual therapy. ahhh!! I'm having a tough time with this decision.

I have all the tuition information for Western and UOP in the packets they gave me when I went for the interview. I can't find it right now, but you should have the same info. Their site doesn't really show the price, but if you check the APTA website it has the tuition for 05-06, which is a little outdated, but should not be that much different.

UOP is two years, but if you read my other posts they have a lot less time dedicated to clinical expereince than Western and others. All the info is out there, just consider what you want from the program before you make your decision. Good luck! and Congrats!
