  1. Attending Physician
Hi folks. The rural hospital I'm currently at needs a cardiac CT reader. I want to be able to offer my services as a reader but I didn't get training on this topic during my fellowship. In your experience, did you need to become SCCT certified before being able to read studies and become certified? Is becoming COCATS II in cardiac CT as an attending possible with online courses + some support from the radiology department to get the number of proctored cases under my belt?

I did an advanced cardiac imaging fellowship. I know a lot of people who have done one of those 1 week courses such as from Hopkins to get qualified for Level 2. Then you have to take the boards. I believe there is a new mandate to be board certified in CT in order to get reimbursed for your reads. The easiest would be for you to do a course and then take the CT boards. CT boards are offered between September to October so you won't be able to take it until next year. Message me if you have any questions and concerns.
