I'm not here to bitch about my problems here, I'm just curious if anyone is in the same boat as me. I originally started off college at ASU and messed around, then I spent three years at a community college persuing my paramedic cert and AA degree. All that time I ended up with 88 credits. Well returning to ASU to persue a BS in biology I found out that half my credits were worthless because they were part of my paramedic program. This I anticipated. What I didn't was that out of that 48 credits left only about five classes count toward my BS. So essentially I'm considered a second semester freshman. I was stupid from being outside a university for so long I thought an AA was half a BS. OoooH I was wrong.

I also have to work full time for my ambo company for three years so that means years going to school part time.

But the good thing is that I have time to bring my grades up, find a way into med school, and master the MCAT. And I'll enjoy biology alot and not be one of those people who drag ass through the sciences.

That's not naive, you just didn't know what you were going to do. I'm similar because I wasn't always setting out to become a doctor. I have a lot of credits in untransferrable stuff.

There is a good side to your experience - how were your grades? You have that much more chance to bring your GPA up.

Well, not the same boat exactly, but I too did, indeed, hit a major setback by being naive. So I guess I'm in that dinghy you see about a mile out...

You'll get through it and be the better for it. You're already seeing the positive, and that is half the battle.

i went and got an AAS in automotive technology and NOT ONE credit transfered. needless to say though i have a 108 credits at a 3.9 GPA so i have a little padding.

In all honesty, its people like you who develop a great sincerity and dedication for the field. You will be fine as long you have your focus. Good luck to you🙂

I was frustrated a few months ago about it. But now I think it's funny. I'm not worried about it.

My wife had a degree with majors in Anthro., Socio., and Psych when I met her...she just finished going back for 3 years to get her Nursing Degree...

now, after visiting KCUMB with me, she wants to go to Med School.

She would need at least Chem I&2, Org. 1 and 2, Physics 1 and 2, and Genetics...likely Micro too...

So, we're trying to figure out how to get her into this as well.

I'm guessing it's going to come down to kids vs. Med School.

Having kids changed the life of a good friend of mine. It's a tough decision.
