If you have an interview and stuff and need help to get around lemme know. I just moved here a few weeks ago and know how tough it can be....

Please excuse my horrible spelling lol, the title of the thread should be: Anyone in the Boston area for interviews...

Hello, I was wondering if you had any special advice for interviewing at Boston University (e.g. what's the best method of transportation, etc)?

I figured I would throw my two cents out there on this post since I live in Boston and am also interviewing at BU next month. Transportation wise it is best to just take the subway, or the T as it is called, to get around, but unfortunately the BU campus isnt really near a subway stop.

I would recommend from my own experience to take the green line to Hynes Convention Center and then go above ground to take the CT 1 bus (I believe that is the number).

You can also check out the www.mbta.com website which is helpful. The city is relatively easy to get around since it inst that large.

So the best method seems to be air port to T to hotel, and then in the morning hotel to T, then catch a taxi to the dental school, correct?

you can just get a cab straight from the hotel to your interview, you don't need to take the T.

Expect to pay a lot for cabs in Boston. They are very expensive and during rush hour in the morning you are bound to sit in traffic for quite some time since the city streets here are very loopy, imo. I would suggest getting a cab early and bringing quite a bit of cash on you.

What about using BART to get from the airport to HSDM? Is that a bad idea? I was thinking about doing that... also, if anyone knows, what are some cheap places to stay near hsdm?
Thanks🙂

BART is in SF. The T is in Boston. Sorry if I'm being stupid and you were just kidding🙂 The easiest way to get to Harvard from the airport on public transportation is to take the silverline bus (which will pick you up at the terminal) to south station. South station is on the redline which will take you directly to Harvard. Once you get to South Station it should be easy to figure out. Boston T stations have maps all over the place and are easy to figure out.

For those of you going to BU, I believe the dental campus is the same as the medical campus. If I am wrong, ignore the following. To get to the medical campus you can take the T to the BU campus (which is on the B line of the green line -this makes sense when you look at a map of the T). From the BU campus, there are shuttles that leave regularly to the medical school campus. You can probably look up the schedule of this schedule and where it departs from online. Students call it the BU bus, but it's officially the Boston University Shuttle (BUS). Good luck!

The redline can take you to Harvard's undergrad campus, but it will not take you to the dental school. To get to HSDM, take the E line to the "Longwood Medical Area" stop or take the D line to the "Longwood" stop. The D line is a longer walk but still not that far.

For anyone that has interviews at any of the 3 dental schools in Boston, if you don't know your way around Boston, I recommend taking a cab to your interview. Or get a hotel within walking distance. You don't want to be late for your interview because you went to the wrong Harvard campus (or the wrong Tufts or BU campus if you're interviewing there)
