I tried McGrath this past week. It's ok.

What I don't like are the lithium batteries. They should have put AA batteries. Lithium batteries degrade over time with their charging ability. $50 to replace each time.

But then they couldn't sell you new $50 dollar batteries that degrade over time. Like when your inkjet cartridges cost more than the printer?

Yes, but that is not the case here. I have a distributor who no longer does that line of work and he had one. It did not go missing from an OR....but it will end up on ebay if no one here wants to make an offer 🙂

The rep told me the cost has gone down to $2500 these days. $50 for battery replacement.

It was like $3500 a couple of years ago. I suspect price will go down to $2000 soon.

Which reps told you that? We had some reps a few months ago that said $7000.

We just bought several McGrath Macs at a group discount. 10 of them for 2200 a piece. I like em.

I think the McGrath Mac is significantly cheaper than the Series 5.

The battery in the McGrath Mac isn't rechargeable so its just like the AA's. You throw it out when dead. Main difference is that it will last much longer than AA's so you won't replace them as often. But you are correct; $50 to replace each time.

Which reps told you that? We had some reps a few months ago that said $7000.

There are 2 McGraths now.
One is sold by LMA and it is going to be anywhere between $7K and $10K.
The other McGrath is sold by Covidien and will be between $2500ish and $4K.
