Hello,
I have an interview at UMDNJ next week and I am really excited because it is my #1 choice for dental school. Has anyone interviewed there already? If so can you tell me about your experience? Also if anyone knows the chances of getting accepted are, and how full the class is. Thank you so much!

Hello,

I just called UMDNJ today and they said that the class is pretty full but not completely full yet. I think you should call the admissions office to get more details. They would be happy to answer you.

I interviewed at UMDNJ in early January. The interview was first so try to be on time. Mine was very casual because my interviewer had graduated in 1999 so he was young and very nice. Then there was a talk from the director of admissions, then a 1 hour presentation on their books on DVD program - I think you should seriously think about the DVD idea because if you cannot study from the computer you will spend extra money to buy the actual books. They require that you buy their laptop even if you already have one. Also, there is the usual financial aid talk, a tour and then lunch with students. You should be done aroud 2pm or so. From what I know they meet the same day of the interviews so I got the response within 3 days. I will not be going there so I guess they still have my seat!!!
good luck to you🙂

Pantera,
Thanks for the info. I looked everywhere on this network and could not find any info! Did you get accepted? If you don't mind, what was your GPA and what did you get on the the DAT? I have a 3.2 and I got a 19... so you see I am very nervous because I dont know if they will think of me as a strong candidate. I hope my volunteer work, major (Biochemical Pharmacology), and attitude will make up for it!
Also, they contacted you in three days? By phone or mail? Unfortunately I leave for my springbreak trip right after the interview so I hope they can get in touch!
thanks

Hi Janis
I got accepted to UMDNJ but I also got accepted to Columbia and still waiting from UCSF. Most likely I'll go to Columbia unless UCSF offers me a seat. Anyway, I got a 21 on the DAT and 16 on the PAT; my gpa is 3.85. I think you definitely have a good major and I know some people from my school were accepted with an 18 on the DAT so you should be ok. They would not interview you if you were not a good candidate. By the way, where did you go for your undergrad? I graduate in may from Montclair State.
I am sure you will do just fine. Be yourself on the interview and just let them know that you are determined in what you have chosen. They might ask you about community service or volunteering, so be prepared for that. Also, it's always good to prepare a few questions for you interviewer so that they know you have been doing your homework!! After all it's not supposed to be just a one way conversation.
Good luck and don't be nervous - believe me, that will not help 🙂

WOW GREAT GPA! Congrats on your acceptances! I go to University at Buffalo. Another thing I forgot to mention, although my GPA is kinda low, It has been dramatically increased from freshman year! (I was so clueless I took a Junior Level environmental class Freshman year that I had no business being in and got a D) I also got a D in my first chemistry class. But that was before I really caught on and got smarter I got an A or B in all science classes since! I even got a B+ in my Pharmacology class last semester (this class has Graduate students in it) So anyway (sorry for boring you!) I do have some stuff to offer UMDNJ, I just hope there's room!!!!
