Just wanted to share that I got an invite to PCO, but I have a couple questions? I have not taken the OAT yet, I take it this week, so I don't understand how they invited me. I called them and they told me it was about my total application which had strong grades and opt. experience.

My grades are gpa 3.62 and sgpa of 3.5. Another interesting aspect is that I am a Business major with a minor in chemistry. I will admit that my optometry background is very strong (father runs large private practice in Fl, so I have numerous oppertunities to get involved)

Anybody have a similar experience?

Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled being that PCO was my first choice, its a great school.

Congrats on the invite! I had a similar experience. I had an interview with PCO on October 09, and they told me that they look at the overall applicant. The interview is more laid back than others. Just be yourself and emphasize your charming personality and interest for the profession. I did feel that my interview was like an conversation but their were times in which the interviewer would ramble about herself or completely different topic.
The 1st interview is the blind interview followed by the closing interview, which is given by an admission committe member. They give you a full tour of the campus and financial aid session. PCO is my 1st choice too... but I was told that they will let me know this friday... Good Luck hopefully fellow classmate!!!:xf:

It is not unheard of for a school to interview a student before receiving OAT scores, however definitely try and do your best on the OAT, because it will matter! Most likely, one of two things will happen: Either the admissions committee will wait for your OAT scores before making their final decision on your acceptance (they almost always make their decision after interview day even for someone with a complete application), or the other possibility is that you will be conditionally accepted before the OAT scores come in (your acceptance would be contingent upon getting a high enough score). Good luck on the OAT and on your interview 👍

thanks for the responses, let me know what happens OD4eyes.

I've received three interviews and I haven't taken the OAT yet. PCO is one of them. 🙂

I'm a second year at PCO and the same happened to me. As soon as I sent them my OAT scores, they sent me an acceptance email shortly after. Your "profile" looks good and it looks like you're doing it at a great university!
