Hi all - I came to this board primarily because I am seeking info about the HPSP. I was recently admitted to a direct-entry NP program, and I was surprised to find the Army was the only service would be an option for me (I spoke to AF and Navy too but for various reasons I can't apply through them).

I was an Army Reservist for 12 years, and now I am a Navy Reservist, and I have never once seen an NP *in uniform* (I don't count contractors or govvies).

I know this is a "student doctor" board, but I have not found much information on other forums. I am just curious to see how prevalent FNPs might be right now, what the environment is like being an NP in uniform, pretty much any personal experiences.

I've seen two on Reserve Corps side, but both functioned at RN level for military duties. The Army much prefers PA >>>> NP, though folks say this is changing for FNPs, so who knows? LCSWs are now getting expanded psych practice rights. The Army just doesn't have enough docs, so I wouldn't be surprised if the trend continues for NPs...
