Just wondering! My hospital has a really good template to hit all the key points in order to bill for critical care time;though, I don't know how much it is actually reimbursed. I have just been reviewing my charts and looking at way to increase my RVU's in my documentation. This is not point where I have a problem with documentation just curious about how it translates into $$$

I was told recently at a coding seminar that a 2 cm lac. with a 2 layer closure bills more than 30 min of CC time if that helps.

The first hour is 6.4 rvu. Medicare reimbursement is $34 per rvu. That may or may not be what you collect since your payers might be all private insurance (more $ usually), self pay (no money usually), Medicare, or some mix.

For comparison a level 5 visit is 4.9 rvu.

Any idea what your group collects per rvu?
