Try the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine website: www.amssm.org

Next big conference is the Advanced Team Physician course (anyone can go, don't have to be a team doc) in December (12/1 - 12/4) going on in San Diego (awesome golf).

Or, you can wait till the spring and go to the annual meeting, 4/21 - 4/25 and vist Dr. Lobel and I here in Atlanta.

The annual meeting always has better lectures, but it is major organization for MD's who do non-operative sports medicine. Hope this helps!

american college of sports medicine offers several different courses / year. there is a 2 part "team physician course" and an annual conference, which is enormous. if you are going to go with any course, go to an ACSM one. they are equivalent to our ISIS, where ASSM or whatever is more like ASIPP. my $0.02.

that amssm conference has a session on training and injuries in Navy SEALs, that's pretty interesting albeit useless in everyday practice

If you're prepared to take a trip over the pond theres a big football medicine conference in London next year. www.isokinetic.com went last year in Italy and was useful

The previous posters are correct. ACSM does offer nice conferences, usually in conjunction with the other sports groups.

The big difference between ACSM courses and AMSSM courses is that the annual ACSM course includes EVERYTHING about sports medicine. It has all the science and exercise physiology guys, tons of research on genetics of muscle physiology (zzzzzzzz), etc., as well as clinically relevant stuff, breakout meetings for practical tools (if you want to learn how to care for neck injury on the sidelines of a football game, etc.)

AMSSM is only clincally relevant talks by doctors, usually the big names in the field. The "Team Physician" courses are co-sponsored by ACSM and AMSSM, therefore can't go wrong with those.

My advice is to hit the Advanced Team Physician course this December in San Diego.👍
