Anyone know (or have) any stories of getting denied entrance to DPT programs?

whats your overall gpa and science gpa? What did you get on GRE? And do you have your observation hours?

not everyone gets in....that's the reality of a competitive field. But, there's no law that says you can't reapply next year. I know a few people who didn't get in the first, or even second time, but they kept applying and finally got accepted. But, usually they had to retake a few classes that they didn't do as well in the first time around to boost their GPA a bit, or maybe get more observation hours in, etc. It's definitely possible though 🙂

If you don't get in this year, take the year to work and save up some money, and do some things to make your application stronger if you can - extra observation, retaking a course, etc. Or, you can do something you've always wanted to do (travel overseas, take a roadtrip, etc.). There's always another chance to get in.

Agreed with the above posters. Look at your entire application and see where your weak points are (extracurriculars, GPA, GRE, not enough hours etc...) and then work on that for the next couple of months. Fortunately, many programs start at various times of the year so you don't necessarily HAVE to wait another year to apply. You might just have to wait like 4 months which is not too bad and enough time for you to improve your application! Keep pushing and don't give up!! You can do it!

Pick your head up. It's very normal to have to apply more than once in this field right now. My GPA isn't really that bad but not that great either. Most of the schools I applied to do rolling admissions and I didn't apply early enough last year. So when I got my rejection letters and I took the GRE one more time to boost my scores a little bit and as soon PTCAS opened in July, I applied. I've gotten into three schools and only gotten one rejection so far. Really get to know your schools admissions requirements. You can always ask someone from the admissions department usually around April what you need to change on your application to be more competitive. Also for those of us who don't have outstanding GPAs we don't get the privilege of being picky on what schools we can get into. I got to the point where I needed to apply to those most likely to except me because at the end of the day who cares where I go is long as I become a DPT?
