Hey everyone that got your acceptances at mid-night, congrats!
I was expecting an email from Baylor last night but I didn't hear anything...
i had a pre-Dec interview with them and thought I did pretty well, apparently everyone else was more qualified than me now 🙁
if anyone knows how Baylor admits people, please give me some insights about some of my questions..?

1) Did Baylor send out any rejection emails yet? I didn't get rejection email nor acceptance (is that a good thing?)
2) How many offers are sent out first round and approximately how many people in the past years turned it down (therefore how many 2nd acceptance offers are made?)

Exact same situation. I don't know how I should feel.

Baylor generally tries to fill/nearly their class on 12/2. I recall this being between 100-120 acceptances. Baylor sends out the fewest acceptances overall (generally) for various reasons. They only have two post-Dec interview dates from what I've read this year. I don't think they send out rejections this early, so I assume you're still technically in the running. I'd also call Dr. Miller tomorrow, and see if she can shed some light on your status.

Don't lose hope. We've had people on here with spring admissions to BCD.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I have heard that majority of the class for Baylor is filled during first round of acceptances, that's why I am preparing for the worst. 🙁

Baylor typically even does some post dec interviews, mainly for the benefit of some who will end up reapplying the next cycle to let them know they're on our radar. And yeah, spots always clear up last minute.

Also, did your tmdsas status change at all? I was looking at it but couldn't seem to find where the status that may say "waitlisted" is.

Wait list status prob doesn't come immediately. Unfortunately you're probably in limbo for a while. The biggest questions are: do you have a competitive science Gpa and a heavy science background with all of their required science classes and many of their recommended ones completed or planned? If not, that's where I'd start. I imagine it might be hard to talk on the phone this week as 2000+ kids that didn't get acceptances call to see why. You could always shoot an email to Janet, but show some initiative and start working on plan B route into Baylor

I have a 3.9 science, taken Cell Bio, Genetics, Histology, no Anatomy, but plan to take Micro and Embryo in the Spring. Thought I did pretty well on in my interview, however I guess other factors player a bigger role.. The ADEA guide said a minimum of 75 hours shadow with a GP is required so maybe that's whats lacking? Even though I only shadowed 25 hours with a single GP I did however shadowed a second GP, a periodontist, and an orthodontist each for another 20 hours during my EMT course in high school. I remember one interviewer ask if my shadowing experience was enough. Why an additional 5-15 hours would significantly affect my perception of becoming a dentist I will never know..

You can try calling the admissions office and talk to Janet. She will be able to shed more light on how things are going.

So you failed to meet one of their basic requirements of admission? I know what you mean by the small lack of hours, but c'mon man...

The application process specifically asks how many hours you have done since (after) high school. You need more hrs (~100). How much service do u have?

What's your DAT?

I'd take anatomy instead of embryo

My biggest mistake was relying on my DAT too much.. I thought that a great DAT score with a good GPA could give me some slack or at least compensate in some areas of my application, but I am indeed wrong and face the consequences.
I have about 100+ service and two leadership positions. Anatomy at my school is killer; my friends who take it barely make it out with a B or C! The idea was that if I took 2 out of the 3 harder classes in undergrad (Histo and BichII) I could focus more on Anatomy while in DS. Who wants a rough final spring semester anyways 😛
Overall, I was just curious about my status to Baylor. I have a cousin at Baylor who detached all familial ties with me and abandoned our friendship. I did not want to spend another 3 years under a cousin who continually rejects me, if you know what I mean..

Maybe Baylor did you a favor.

My sGPA is a 3.56, the Bs that I've received were all from introductory science classes though. All upper biology classes I have made As.
It took me a little time at the beginning to learn how to study since English is my third language..
I have taken A&P, Biochem 1 & 2, Micro, Genetics, etc, and plan to take Immuno. soon. I have sent Janet an E-mail and she said I can only wait for the second round of acceptances now...which isn't gonna be any big wave activity I think...Thanks for the heads up though!
