I'm currently a third year - post any questions and I'll be happy to reply.

another question: Can anyone give any comments on the following rental complexes: The AMLI at medical center, Humble Tower, Scotland yard, Archstone at Medical Center, or the Villas at cornado?

I'm just an MS1 at BCM, but I know about a few of these complexes from friends who live at them...

AMLI: nice and new. It's not in quite the same place as the others, but still in the med center area. My friends live at a differnt AMLI, but they like it.

Scotland Yard: A good friend lives here...it's kind of your standard "condoland" apt. complex, a little old and maybe not quite as clean or safe, but certainly affordable and reasonable. Bus picks you up close by and brings you in to work...

Archstone: Good thing about this is it's got a metrorail stop right outside, so you can get to work easily (train comes q6minutes). I think this complex is about 6 years old or something, so it's still pretty nice and clean-looking...one problem is that it's also right across the street from Reliant Center/Astrodome, so during concerts or football games or rodeo time there will be tons of people around using the train and stuff...

I think you residents might be able to drive in to work? If so, the mass transportation may be less important...

I hope that helps...

thanks generic, i appreciate the helpful post!

one thing to remember - you're never "just" anything...
