Anyone NOT take a prep course for NPTE?

I'm in my last clinical internship before graduation in December 2010. It's out of state and I'll be unable to go back to school for the 2-day review course. I'm planning on purchasing the NPTE review and study guide by O'Sullivan which is what they'll be using. My question is-has anyone else not taken a prep course and just studied on their own?
