Got a buddy doing one now at NYU. It's costing him a fortune in tuition, and he's not sure what to do with it when he finishes. He's basically speculating that the future of health care will be in pushing paper.
you have to look at the cost opportunity...
a good MBA executive program will take 2-2.5 years (sometimes 3 years) of every other weekend, and tons of homework...
will cost you about 40-60k/year not including commutting and other hassles
and what will it gain you?
most executives make 150-300k in most organizations...
the number of MD/MBAs who make TONS of cash either started their own health-care start-ups, or spend many years slaving their way up the corporate ladder at larger hospital groups...
in my mind that is a money losing proposition.... i'd rather make my current money for 5 years than jump on a new bandwagon with thope of making good money in 10-15 years.
ditto. seems a lot of work and gamble for little reward. Or at least for reward that i dont think i would particulary enjoy...
its medicine for now, then maybe Subway, or best westerns after that. I heard gas stations are great also...
I'm thinking about getting a MBA too. I'm an assistant professor at USC. I can get full tuition reimbursement for a MBA from USC. Tempting.
