Has anybody heard from Houston recently? They just finished their interview season. They should be making final decisions very soon so if anybody hears, please post it here!!!

The "final" decisions were made before Dec 1. Since then, there has been a trickle of acceptances to replace the few applicants that declined their offer.

I disagree with you. Houston doesn't send out all their acceptances in Dec. They do send out in cycles. Now, there aren't as many as in Dec, but the "final" decisions aren't made in Dec! Otherwise, they wouldn't cotinue to hold interviews until now! Plus, there are a lot of people who get accepted to Housotn, SA and Baylor who decline Houston. Therefore, this opens up a lot of slots even after Dec. acceptances are sent out.

You are closer to the action so maybe you can provide some specifics. A lot is not a well defined number and in all likelihood even for Houston a guesstimate may mean from under 10% to perhaps 20% of the class. Baylor and SA they sent out their entire class list Dec. 1. SA has had a limited number of acceptances since then and Baylor has claimed that for last year, not a single candidate came from the waiting list.

I have to agree with Navy DDS. Dr. P told me that they still had roughly half their spots still available after the Dec 1st acceptance date. They purposely interview well into Feb to give late applicants a chance. There are still many letters to give out.

Today was the first Monday that interviews were not conducted, so I assume it is safe to say that they are done interviewing.

During my interview at Houston which was in late October, Dr.P said that there were more applicants left to be interviewed than the number that have already been interviewed. He also mentioned that different from SA and Baylor, Houston doesn't fill as many seats on Dec1 because they haven't started the interview process as early as the other schools. That would mean that even the applicants interviewed after Dec1 are not interviewed just to fill in seats that have been withdrawn.
One person I know at my undergrad got an acceptance letter from Houston a couple of weeks after their interview last month so don't give up your hopes yet.. Good luck!

I got an acceptance letter on Friday (15 Feb).

congratulations ajax kid!

When did you have your interview? If you don't mind how are your DAT and GPA? I am very worried about my application, I had my interview in November.

October here. Still no word.

hang in there, i'm trying not to think about the wait, but we have no choice...

man ive had the worst wait, SINCE AUGUST. I've given in to the chance that I have been rejected, looks like im going to shut it down for a couple of months and retake the DATs.

Dude that sucks! I'm sorry! I can relate to how you feel and can't imagine going through this hell of an applications cycle yet again. I really do hope that you hear some good news from some place just so that you won't have to suffer through this again. Did you apply only to Texas schools?

I was quite suprised to get the acceptance. I interviewed on the 28th of January and got the feeling from my interviewer that I had lots of unique experiences, but my GPA/DAT were extraordinarily average (3.17 Overall, 3.2 Science, 18/19/22). I didn't think I was going to be able to stand out with the formula they use. Needless to say, I was very happy to get the email last friday.

I'm getting ready to start my 2nd round of applying & I'm just curious - If your from Texas... with decent stats but not outstanding... where out of state is a good place to apply? It seems like most places out of state are not interested in Texas residents?

Nova Southeastern -- I was accepted there last cycle, and they have taken Texas residents in the past
ASDOH -- seems to take students from all over
NYU -- one of my classmates from undergrad interviewed there this year
Case Western -- take students from all over
Boston University -- large out of state acceptance rate from what I remember
Maryland -- have heard good things about the school
Tufts -- they seem to take Texas people, and there is a guy in my class who was accepted there but chose to stay in state for obvious reasons ($$$)
Loma Linda -- I know of people from Texas who have interviewed there and been accepted, they all have good things to say about the program

I was offered an interview at West Virginia last cycle in January, but declined because I had already been accepted. I would also try to stay away from state schools for the most part unless you have pretty high stats (both DAT and GPA). Check out predents.com.

I'm a Texas resident. I know that each year Louisville tries to accept around 45 in-state (Kentucky) residents, and 35 out-of-state residents. Thats a higher rate of out-of-state than most other places. I applied to 11 out-of-state schools and all 3 Texas schools. So far: zero interview invitations from Texas schools, 2 from out of state.

I interviewed and declined a offer from Indiana. When looking at out-of-state schools apply to those that accept a large amount of out-of-state students and you should help your chances. You mentioned that your are decent but not outstanding. While applying continue to improve those stats.

Good Luck!!:luck::luck:

Is houston done with his acceptance letters??? Is it over.Has anyone called the school.

:boom::meanie:IT IS OVER...MUAAAHAHAHAHHAAHAAAAAAA!!!!:meanie::boom:

Great news! Congrats!!!

any news!!!!!!!! I remember last year by march 23rd, I was told that they are done with their admission process. I guess we are getting towards the end of the story..............

whoa dude, why u gotta be so sensitive? 😱

Oh, so the school finally emailed me back, there will be a waitlist made in two weeks and we will all officially know our tragic fates by the end of May, INCREDIBLY slow admissions process, but life must move on. time to get plan B moving along

So they are done with their admission process? Their class is filled up?

i wasnt told that they were full, but in two weeks they will be

I emailed them too, they said my application is still under consideration and that they will start making their waiting list in two weeks. Presj, did they tell you the exact same thing?

they thanked me for being patient, then said that the alternate list will be completed in a couple of weeks. they didnt specifically mention i am under consideration though...

They told me that my application was still under consideration too and that they would make a waitlist soon. DDS4tehwin, I wouldn't read too much into what they told you, I think it depends on who you emailed. The first time, I emailed Dr. P (two months ago) and all he said was that the last day of interviews were in Feb. and that all decisions would be made after then (very vague). Two weeks ago, I emailed Celeste Rivera (the lady who handles the interview scheduling, and she said that my application was still under review and that a waitlist would be made at the end of March. Maybe, they got tired of answering the same emails so they forgot to say that your "app is still under review" too. I think we're all on the waitlist/reject list. 🙁

hey dudes and dudettes,

I just got an email today saying that I am on the waitlist at UTDB Houston. Just wanted to let you know, if anyone wants to join me in sitting in the waitlist boat, please post here.
