Trident is now adverting that their gum now contains more xylitol. What do you guys think? Personally i don't get it. The only people that know what xylitol is are dentists, or us dentists to be. Are they tiring to target dentists so they start recommending trident to their patients?

"Over 25 years of testing in widely different conditions confirm that xylitol is the best sweetener for teeth. Xylitol use reduces tooth decay rates both in high-risk groups (high caries prevalence, poor nutrition, and poor oral hygiene) and in low risk groups (low caries incidence using all current prevention recommendations). Sugarfree chewing gums and candies made with xylitol as the principal sweetener have already received official endorsements from six national dental associations."

nice input

I just got back from the AAO (American Association of Orthodontists) convention in San Fran. There I visited a booth and learned about Xylitol. I got some free samples of Spry gum and mints which contain Xylitol. It tastes so good, and it's even safe for diabetics and hypoglycemics. It's safe to chew for people with braces too. Anyway, I am really impressed with Spry products and anyother product containing Xylitol.

the only reason i think that they advertise those type of things is so people see a scientific word and think . . . it must be good, i have to have it! in my opinion, all you have to do is throw a scientific term into your product, even if it is valid or isn't, and you will probably sell more than if you hadn't included it . . . just my opininon anyway.

another example i saw on television was for some makeup including botafirm . . . it sounds exciting . . . so it must be a good thing . . . but what exactly is it?

xylitol is not a bogus scientific product, it's a product under the category sugar substitutes; and it specifically falls under the heading "sugar alcohols"

oh, i know that xylitol is a legitimate substance - i'm just saying made up scientific words to sell a product

I can tell you from personal experience that the new "Artic Ice" (old "freshmint") flavor with Xylitol is pretty tasty 😀 I'm DEFINATELY one of the 4 out of 5 dentists who reccommends Trident as between Trident and Discus Dental's Breath Rx Xylitol gum balls I have one of those 2 in my mouth over 12 hours a day on average 😱 😀

What is the brand that comes in big containers with the screw top lids? they look like chicklets. they come in mint, bubble gum, etc flavors. I used ot have that kind in my old office and I loved it. But i can't think of the brand... 😕

The Breath Rx balls come in a flip top clear container and look like white marbles. We try and keep our chicklet looking things to peoples front teeth in our office 😉 😀

BTW, we literally about 10 minutes ago had the UPS man deliver a huge order from Trident, and I'm currently chomping on their new "tropical twist" flavor. Quite an interesting, strong fruity flavor, but very good!

Do you get a professional discount? Is there a website for ordering online? Thanks. I miss the free chewing gum days from Crest.

We actually do get a discount, but Trident is manufactured/distributed by Proctor and Gamble, who own Crest(and soon to be Oral B also), so our discount is bundled together based on all the Crest toothbrushes/Paste, Crest White Strips, and Glide Floss that we buy through our Crest rep.

BTW, 5 hours later, I'm on my 3rd piece of their tropical twist flavor. It has one of those interesting citrus like flavors, almost makes me want to pick up a Pina Colada 😀 Not quite sure if I'm a big fan of the flavor or not yet, definately hasn't replaced the Artic Ice flavor as #1 in my book though, although I've still got another 50 or so pieces of Tropical Twist in the box to go before I can officially formulate my opinion! 😀

Reading your post makes me drooling! Puerto Rican Pina Colada is the best!!! intoxicating!!!

I am hooked on Wrigley's Orbit gum... unfortunately it doesn't have xylitol 👎
