Hmmm I am starting to feel doubt that I got in this year 🙁

Anyone else not accepted yet? I feel like everyone on this forum has like 3 acceptances.

Yeah I feel you on this one! However, on a positive note, if everyone on this forum as three acceptances, that means that they have to drop two acceptances come may or whenever and then the massive waitlist movement comes! Or so I've heard...

That's really school-dependent, but it's a nice happy thought. However, if you're playing the waitlist game right now (with no acceptances), you should be preparing to reapply just in case. Even if you end up getting an acceptance, any experience you get now can only benefit you in the long run (not necessarily application-wise).

Well I got into SGU and please I don't want a why Caribbean post or a DO vs. Caribbean post...those are all over the place.

I'm like 75% sure I'll go if I don't get in and 25% sure I won't.

Don't need any advice regarding the matter just kind of bummed out that the odds are against me

If you have not heard anything by now look at what you may have done wrong and start fixing it. Do not loose your faith if this is what you really want you will get it.:xf::xf:

i have also just begun thinking about reapplying after not hearing anything after 3 interviews. I just wonder if you are on waitlists, should you wait to submit AMCAS in case you are accepted off of the waitlists? or do most people consider applying earlier more important than saving the few hundred dollars of submitting the primary apps? i am getting sick to my stomach thinking about redoing my personal statement and then secondaries all over again....

I was going through the same thought process before I was accepted. I actually was planning to apply ED the following cycle to the school that happened to accept me. I think a lot of people have this "post-interview depression syndrome," it's normal. But there is still a ton of movement that will occur on waiting lists and such between now and August. There are a lot of overzealous pre-meds holding numerous acceptances because people apply to so many schools these days. Just give it some time, update your file maybe, and get preoccupied with something.

IT'S JANUARY!! Many schools interview into April so those schools are still planning on making offers of admission to people. If you're not rejected, you're still in it. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to start getting some things around for re-application, but still no reason to panic yet 🙂.

I'm thinking about it. I've been thinking about it since I submitted my primary. I haven't had an interview yet (2 lined up, though), but I plan to knock the crap out of them and pray for a couple more. And in the meantime, I'll take a few classes, look into post-bacs, re-take the MCAT, get a new PS together, the whole nine.

Either way, I'm all set. 👍

Maybe you should send updates to schools if they accept them. Can't hurt to try

There's still time. If you have interviews lined up, smash them out of the ballpark. While there will be a lot of WL movement, it's not as big as you might think because schools tend to over-accept initially (say take 250 people for a class of 150) because they know not everyone will attend.

+100 👍👍👍

Ok, guys. You should know that not that many schools that interview through April. While there are a couple that will interview for a spot in the class that late in the season, a great number of March+ interviews are for spots on the waitlist.

I already asked for two more letters and have started working on yet one more PS.

In short: Yes! But I am also considering pushing it back another year before reapplying. Either way, I may reapply to just my top 2-3 schools which my stats match.

For a total of 2-3? That's pretty gutsy!😱

It's great that you're getting geared up, though, just in case.:luck::xf:👍

I spoke with 2 of them. One interviewed me and waiting to hear from them. The dean of admissions for the second said I pretty much have what they look for but I need to "reword" it on the AMCAS and "highlight" my relevant experiences.

For everything else (out-state), I don't think my GPA is competitive enough anyways (BCPM 3.22 and cgpa 3.4 with slight upward trend) so I have 2 SMP programs lined up as back up too.

I would still add a few more to cover my bases unless I pretty much had a guarantee from them of admission in a future cycle.😳

I'll take your advice into serious consideration, thanks =) guess I could call a couple of the other schools and try to get a feel for which ones might be good candidates to reapply to. I am "on hold" at another school but don't expect an interview, so I may just talk to them too.

Catalystic's opinion was to push it back a year as well, and in the pit of my stomach I know that might be better. I just don't like the thought of another 2 years. I may grow desperate in that time!

Do people who say that late interviews are for waitlist have ANY proof for this. I scheduled two of mine late, and was repeatly by adcom that WHEN I interview has no effect on my application. (obi they could just be lying).

I say that there 1/4 interviews left to be conducted total, at least 1/2 acceptances to go out not including WL.

And I think anyone who don't have an acceptance yet (me) are thinking of reaaplying.

Also, of the bzillion people I know who got into med school last year, at least 95% got into their current school off a waitlist.

It depends on the school. Some do, some don't. But honestly if someone hasn't been accepted this year, then you should still attend interviews (even for waitlists spots). It's one more waitlist that you can be on.

Waitlist movement again is very variable depending on the schools. I get a feeling that expensive OOS private schools tend to have much more movement, say a school like GWU. But if you are waitlisted at a University of California school, I think chances are a bit harder just b/c most people would give an arm and a leg to attend one of those five schools.

Im gearing up to reapply again. I am sitting in one waitlist and have one interview coming up. Most schools send out their final invites mid febuary, so if you havent heard anything since then I would recommend reapplying.

enjoy the weather.....😀

I wonder if it was the sarcasm that got him/her on probation :laugh::laugh:

I'm so glad that you guys have the will to re-apply, I'm entirelly pooed from being a pre-med. I think 2 years ago I could have done it but now I'm just ready to move on.

I'm wondering about the strengths and weaknesses of my application.

I applied late (Late October), and I accidentally pasted the wrong experience on one of my AMCAS experiences (pasted my graduate research in my job's spot). I also didn't do the committee letter. I had shadowing of different doctors, but maybe they wanted a lot more clinical experience than my 50 hours of shadowing?

I wonder if that was enough to just nudge me out of the running. I did have a low undergrad GPA, but an excellent MCAT score and graduate school GPA. I'm sure my GPA hurt me more than the committee letter et al., but I wonder if that auxiliary stuff pushed me out of the running.

If I don't get in, I think I want to reapply, but I'm wondering if it will matter. A post-bacc now wouldn't matter for this upcoming year, because the schools wouldn't see my grades anyway (this is correct, right?). I don't think I would do one anyway.

Do schools not look kindly upon reapplicants if there isn't a marked improvement in GPA or MCAT?

Yea I don't know. I was pretty confident in my application and only applied to the top 10, but got seriously screwed over on a letter of recommendation. I only had a few interviews and am assuming I will eventually get rejected.

It should be an easy fix for next year, but I'm wondering whether I should just move on. Tough call.

have you had any interviews? Start sending out "in the area" letters, even if you aren't going to be in the area. 😎

I always questions how much the "in area" letters matters this late in the interview season.
