Yep, and they are supposed to review us and (hopefully) let us know around Feb 15th....

I don't want a rejection but I do want to know what the deal is soon!!! Its nice that they are giving us a chance but I feel like the chance is slim, you know?

I've also heard nothing back from UCSF since I turned in my secondary...I don't even know if that means I'm on hold or not... but in any case, I wish they would tell me *something*! Especially because the school sounds amazing, and I wish I could at least get an interview there...I've never been to California...

edit: It feels like UCSF has been hunting, caught me in a trap, and then proceeded to leave me there to see if there's any better meat in the forest. While I lie wounded and helpless, they're still chasing other deer, bears, etc. I wonder when they'll let me out....🙁

I read it on a thread from last year that about 200 people get put on hold for an interview, and that 20 of them will eventually get an interview.

Chances are not looking so good...

Yes my friend, your trap analogy works well in this case... hopefully I can hold off an infection from my bleeding trap-wound by Feb, or else I'll have to gnaw off my leg

citygirl said there was a meeting Feb 9th, I'm guessing that was our review, however I think rejections are sent out at the end of the month versus the middle....

Hey all!

I just recently got on pre-interview hold at UCSF. I was told that I would not hear from them about my interview status until perhaps April 15th. I am actually happy that I did not get outrightly rejected post-secondary. They told me to send supporting materials like grades and such, but I have already sent that all. I am wondering if they got it. Should I call? I would love to interview at UCSF, yet as some prior posts have mentioned, not many people get off the hold list. Regardless, good luck everyone. May we be the lucky few who do get asked to interview later on!

Still here. I just don't want to waste the stamp to withdraw. Why not make them use their paper and money to send a rejection letter? What does it hurt? People who withdraw just to not get a letter of rejection are wierd.

Yea, but are you sure that's not the last date for the "first priority" interviewees? I called twice and she said that we'd most likely interview in april if we were chosen off of the hold list....

SF is by far my top choice but I am in the hold category.

Any news ? Have we figured out when they stop interviewing ?

we know they stop on the 18th for the regular applicant group. we aren't sure about the hold group, but rumor is they may still go through the hold group after the 18th. outlook is not so good at this point though.

no one has posted that they have been pulled off though, so at least one of us should get an interview.

I think the people that get of interview hold will find out in the next couple of weeks. I heard of a student that got an interview last year in April and had to fly out pretty much the next day. She eventually got in that way so it's not impossible to get in still, just really unlikely.

This is contradictory to what I've heard. I called them Friday (3/12) and they said that they haven't decided when they'll stop interviewing, they don't know when they'll stop inviting the "on-hold list", and "they can't give out such information [about when they'll finish evaluating]". They also said they're still evaluating...

If what you are saying were true, it's really bad form for UCSF, telling different applicants different things. They should at least try to come to a consensus...

I called and they said that they arent interviewing anymore people this year. She also hinted that some people had been taken off of hold. I just wasnt one of them.

I hear SF is gloomy and cloudy and rainey... if you want to get the sunny CA feel, go to any ther UC 🙂
