Anyone take COMLEX I recenlty?

not much to share, but compared to others' experiences, my (sep 26) exam was very hard. of course, it was a lot of micro, pharm and OMM.. the rest was female repro pathology, wacky path micrographs, a decent amount of easy neuro questions I got wrong, and nothing that appealed to my strengths. But, thanks to scaling, I did fairly well, even though I walked out of there convinced I was gonna retake it.

Don't know if that helps, but if you feel like you're getting your balls kicked in, don't panic. As far as what to study... micro, pharm, and omm. I got a few questions right by switching from tbe same cards/books to new ones (first aid) the day before the exam.

Do you think the pharm section in FirstAid is sufficient? heck, do you think knowing FirstAid cold is sufficient (>600)? any additional resources that you found to be helpful?
I've been doing a lot of Qbank questions, and I notice quite a few questions from there aren't in FA...
Thank you

If it's in 7 days.....it's too late to start w/ a new resource. I will recommend that you get your hands on OMT Review by Savarese & read that cover to cover.

FA is sufficient for all the non-OMM Qs.

Nah, it's not another 7 days for me. I got another month or so. It just makes me nervous to run into questions on Qbank that I won't be able to answer even if it's an open book (FA) test.

Thanks

Agreed, and you don't need to know the whole OMT review book. But it's way more important than learning systemic path or anything like that, which there isn't all that much of.

I had some pharm cards calle pharmnemonics or something like that which were good because they gave me a way to remember everything..

Anyway, the pharm section to FA is pretty short and (in the 2007 edition i have anyway) doesn't help but FAdoes do a good job covering the drugs within each system. And i got a lot of questions right just by remembering some mnemonics from FA. in all honesty, i barely used FA because i didnt have time to get to it and needed more in depth explanations for a lot of stuff to understand it. but i think all the pharm and micro is in there.

Hey,

I am taking comlex this week! I am confused about the break schedules, do the 10 minute breaks count against your time to answer questions? For example, do you have four hours in the morning and then if you take the 10 minute break you end up with only 3 hours and 50 minutes total to answer questions or is that 10 minutes alloted into the test time (i.e. you have 4 hours and 10 minutes total in the morning)? Also, what happens if you take over 10 minutes? Sorry, I am just so confused over this.

Thank You.

First off, you will NEVER run out of time. The Qs are so short that you can easily read them in about 20-30 s leaving a good 40secs to answer. You have 4 hrs for the morning session & you can use it any way you want to. You can spend > 1 hr on the first block & then make up for it on the next...but again, the only reason you may run out of time is if you sit there and try to figure out exactly what the heck they are asking you, but when you come across those vague "guess what we're thinking" Qs, click "C" and move on 😀

Be careful at the end of the morning session though, since if you have 45 mins on top of your lunch break you DO NOT get that extra 45 mins break....if you want you can sit at the desk w/o submitting the last block & take a little mental break.
