Anyone taking the DAT for the 3rd time?

Just wanted to know if any one was. Wanted to know if there are any disadvantages in doing so (other than getting a lower score...)

mouse, my dad is a dentist and has been practicing for 30 years. he ended up taking the dat 3 times, . he took the dat once and was denied admittance. he then took it 2 more times preceding his next application to dental school for the following cycle. mind you thiswas during the vietnam war, so there were thousands more people trying to get into school then in attempts to avoid being shipped to vietnam. also there was no kaplan course or any review materials like there are now. in my view, no disadvantage to 3 dat tries, it shows determination and also shows to them youre going to keep applying until you get in.

some schools state if you take it more than 3 times you should 'maybe pursue another career' ... forget that! although you do you wanna do your best (obviously) by the 3rd try! goodluck man!

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys. Im kinda bummed out and shocked at the same time. I was getting in the 19-20's in TopScore, and when i took it today, the material was nothing like what was covered in Kaplan, Exam Krackers, or Baron's!!! My bro, said taht I was probably over stressing about the exam- him and my gf kno me better than myself, so I might have been. I guess 3rd time is the charm.....

if you was getting 19-20 on top score and scoring lower than that on the DAT, its most likely testing anxeity. cause you should easily get at least that plus a few extra points even. like teethpulla said, what did you got on your DAT and what are you trying to get

Ok, here goes..

PA: 15
Bio: 17
QR: 17
RC: 16 (20) on first DAT
GC: 16
OC: 13
Tot Sci: 16

in TS my lowest score was a 19, and that was in OC... Everything else was in the low 20's, except GChem which was 24..

Any one taking DAT more than twice is a HERO!!!!! I think, the maximum, one can take DAT is 4 times.

Just got off the phone with UOP... yeah ive been calling around asking various questions... but from them... after fling this particular question to them... they just told be that they look at the most recent DAT scores... from another source... I was told that AADSAS revamps all info on applicants every two years... and so I was told by most that scores older than so many years are not goin to be sent out... thats my assumption... I state again... before someone gets all fritzed up about this statement ...this is just my guess...

I heard that UOP is pretty good to get into. But have my eyes set on NYU... Lets see what happens 3 months from now...
