I was wondering if anyone has taught for Kaplan or know what that entails. They offered me a position, but I don't know if it's worth it. Did they pay well? What are your thoughts?

I cannot comment on what it was like working for Kaplan, but I do know a couple people who worked for Kaplan while in d-school to supplement their student loans.

It's really hard to say what it's like to work for them now. I worked for them for about 2 years. It was a good experience, and I felt like I really did help some people do well on the DAT/SAT. The only problem is, they have shifted their entire philosophy on teaching logistics. Teachers now turn in all forms through the mail, you don't have a centralized teaching center and things have changed dramatically the last year or so. I think that the online materials are great, and I loved teaching, but I don't really care for the new system. The materials for the DAT do need an update by now (admitted by everyone) even though they are still a good basic review of everything. They may have updated everything for the DAT recently, but I haven't kept up with it enough to be sure.
On a sad note, it seems as if the company is being run from the top down, with a corporate attitude. Without going into specifics, there have been some things that I am not very happy with. Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions is run by a good group of people, but they don't have a choice as to many of the changes being made by the top. If you can negotiate a good pay, I would still consider working for them. They pay pretty well regardless of what you teach, so it's still worth it to teach I believe, you just feel more isolated than before I think.
