I have all of the kaplan step 2 course review books that look like a good source to study from for my shelf exams, but no one seems to mention them when listing people on here list the books they used to prep for their shelfs. Anyone here use them? I'm on surgery right now and can't seem to find any other concise review book that just focuses on shelf material. Thanks.

I used them for surgery, and thought they were fine...not the magic bullet, but readable and concise and somewhat helpful. have you used then for any other subjects?cipher said:

No, I haven't used the Kaplan step 2 books yet to prepare for the other shelf exams I've done (peds and ob/gyn) because I found good books that I could use to prep for those exams. For surgery, though, I can't find anything I like. Lawrence is interesting, but not focused at all on what the shelf tests. Blueprints is far too short and apparently just a waste of time. First aid is popular, but I'm not a fan of their outline-style format.
What did you find useful for your surgery shelf? I was planning on using pretest or A&L for questions, but before I hit those I wanted to do some reading.

I am using the step 2 books. so far i have only taken the peds shelf, and i thought it was excellent. i got a 91 raw score, so i guess it worked out well. i am using the psych book right now, and i take the exam on friday. i think this books are good, especially if you couple them with the lectures off ebay. 👍

I used it (among lots of others) and found it pretty good. That's the question book - not the textbook if there is one - that I'm talking about. I thought it was good. 👍
