Just wondering if Goljan's HY notes-{the notes he talks about studing from in his audio tapes (not his rapid review)} would be a good thing to use last minute (< 2 weeks b/f real thing 😱 ). Anyone take the test and found these notes useful? Thanks

absolutely, in my opinion. You can do it with Rapid Review too, but when you just listen to the lectures and really work to understand what he is talking about, it's worth it. Even if you just go through a lecture or two, you get a better understanding of the concepts he talks about, which is good not only for Step 1 but for understanding in general. There is a lot that only comes together at the last minute, in my opinion, when you are really integrating all the content and can put things together and draw parallels.

He claims that his high yield contains many questions that we are guaranteed to see on the real exam; did you find this true after taking the exam? Thanks

there were about 2-3 questions that I thought were very very familiar and I had probably seen in Goljan...there were a lot more things where his voice would come into my head while I was reading a question (I am a good auditory learner!). You are not guaranteed to see anything, but if you do enough questions from Goljan or qbank or anything, you will see the same questions come up on the real thing. There are only so many important topics that lend themselves to easy-to-write questions. Also, you may not see the question, but the topic may appear. Just be sure that you work on your in-depth understanding rather than rushing through questions. Quality is better than quantity!

The benefit of doing questions is that it helps build your ability to answer a question almost reflexively, rather than having to take minutes (which you don't have) to think about it. Then the only trick is making sure that they are asking the question you think they are asking. For example, I had a question that asked about something happening to RNA. I had an answer, none of the choices matched it, and on the reread I realized they were asking about rRNA not mRNA.

They were very helpful.

Nope. Having just finished Step 1 a few hours ago I can say that none of the questions I heard Goljan mention or read in his notes were still on the test I had.

However, the concepts were still very useful (ecchymoses vs. petechiae) so I feel his stuff is as good as anything else out there (and unfortunately I own most of it - what a waste!).

I strongly disagree. Half of the questions were in his notes.

OSU students have HY notes from Dr. Goljan as being his students. The only other people who might have this EXACT information are those who took Dr. Goljan's review course through KAPLAN.

Are you talking about RR Path or HY notes?

HY Notes.

Although I don't see much of a difference between the two, other than the fact that RR is organized and not random.
