I just started my first year of radiology and hate it. Is there anyone interested in my position? It would be great to trade PGY-2 spots if possible. I'm looking mostly in the Ohio region.

I would love to have your spot. Where is it at? (not that it really matters). Sorry no PGY2 spot to offer in exchange. I'm a former anesthesiology resident looking for a rad spot.

To the OP, could you please elaborate on why you hate your radiology spot?

To the anesthesiology resident, could you please elaborate why you want to change out of anesthesiology?

Thank you both in advance.

WTF? I didnt realize you could trade like that. Then: I got a Pete Rose rookie card, near mint as well as Mark McGuire, slightly dinged card to offer. Also have some comics, including X-men number 1, I would gladly offer for a radiology or gas spot. To sweeten the deal I could be enticed to throw in a still-in-the-box 1979 Darth Vader Hasbro action figure. Im not particular but perfer warm climates.

I am a pgy 2 in internal medicine in michigan and want to switch out of medicine into anesthesia or radiology...PM me if interested

i just pmed u thanks

Hell, I'd pay $10,000 cash on the barrel for your rads spot.

I would also like to hear from the OP what he hated about radiology. Was it radiology that you hated, or was it something specific about your program? Your thoughts might be helpful to those of us still deliberating as the deadlines draw closer.

Pete Rose = gambling loser, no thanks

Mark McGuire = drugged up loser, no thanks

X-men number 1 = now we're talking

Darth Vader = JACKPOT!

CHA-CHING!

Let me understand this. Accounting for time spent in orientation, you have spent about 1 month in your residency. And you want to give up ? What happened ?

Some people are intimidated by the high expectations posed to them by radiology faculty. As you are exempt from call for the first 6 months (or is it a year now), you are expected to read 1+ hour/day in addition to your clinical duties. There is probably no other specialty so obsessed about passing the board exam from day1 of residency.

Sounds like rad onc.... tons of reading when you start.

OMFG!!! 1 hour of reading?! THE HORROR. Of course you should give up on rads. That is insane. Those expectations are unbelievable. They probably expect you to enjoy your daily BJs by local community college girls too, those BASTARDS!

He said 1+ HOUR/DAY, thank you very much. Maybe in your magical little world 1 hour of reading is no problem, but 90 minutes is just crushing the housestaff, seriously!

I mean how can you ask a resident to peruse a textbook and some papers at Starbucks whilst enjoying a Grande White Chocolate Mocha for one and a half hours a day!? I mean, every other PGY-2 on the planet is enjoying the luxury of q4 call and getting paged at 2 am in the morning b/c of a blood glucose of 200 . . . 😡

lol.... missed the "1" part of that statement.... I wish there was only 1 hour of reading a day!

All I can say I can understand the unhappiness with starting a new program I started anesthesia myself and have been rather unhappy with it. The program I am in has been rather resident unfriendly. I was miserable during my intern year as well at another hospital came to anesthesia expecting to be happier but instead am more miserable... So is life apparently is all I can say.

yeah-

but, no one posts on SDN to trade a radiology residency spot. i agree with big frank.

what does troll mean?

It means the original poster was trying to get a rise out of people. It comes from "trolling", as in a type of fishing, not the commonly assumed troll monster, as in:
