Hey Guys i am interested in applying to north american and caribbean schools for their medicine program but unfortunately have failed a course in my second year. I was wondering if anyone out there has or knows people with F's get in to caribbean schools and maybe what potential reasons are legitamate for failing courses people use like death in family, etc. I have some reasons why i failed and haven't failed another course after that. I was wondering if you guys could help me on this issue, it is bothering me!

Should not be a problem, as long as you retook it (if it is required) and did well.

If you failed one course in a semester and it was due to a family death or some extreme circumstance your other semester grades would likely reflect that as well. I think it would be much easier for an adcom to believe a semester went down the tubes due to your mom being sick than it would be to believe that your performance was only affected in one class. And, an F is an F and always looks bad. I would retake immediately.

doesnt matter as long as your gpa is still good. Just explain what happened. I received an F in a course and have been accepted to 3 schools already. Waiting for 3 more.

You never know. With the Carib, it is more of the 'why' and less of the 'what' when it comes to grades.

Thanks alot for your all your encouragement people. I was really tense before. May i ask Coolguy if these schools are in the caribbean or somewhere else, cuz i was interested in the caribbean instead of abroad due to fact i have family in states and rotations are done in the states.
