Hi,

I was wondering if there has been anyone with similar experience as me that has had success in application cycles. Basically, I was an unmotivated and procrastinator early on in my undergraduate career and did little to no volunteering... currently I am shadowing a doctor and volunteer at a few places that I started recently. I am going to be a senior coming fall and was wondering if it was realistically possible to get in with showing one year, possibly two, worth of volunteering?

I might also have the opportunity to get a research position with one of my professors and I'm currently taking a EMT course in the summer (as I am posting this) to try and help my prospects into getting a job/volunteer position at a hospital.

My grades are decent and I just finished my first year of straight 4.0s and brought my GPA up around ~3.6.

I have a bad feeling volunteering and clinical experience for a year probably won't be that competitive... I haven't taken my MCAT yet, will in a couple of months... if I get 4.0s my senior year, do you think that will help them be leinent on my lack of community involvement earlier?

I only recently become interested in medicine, at the beginning of my junior year, so I worked hard to keep my grades up.

I lacked complete direction in my undergraduate studies... I think I've changed career goals like four times, it's really stressful. I really didn't have anyone to help guide me but that is completely my fault, I didn't actively pursue help.

I can bring up my grades higher if I retake my 2 Cs from freshman and sophomore years. One was Gen Chem II and the other was OCHEM I (but I got an A in OCHEM II). It should bring my GPA 3.7+ if things work out my way.
