Hey!

I noticed many of you have questions about how your stats fair and I'd like to share my stats with you. I will be attending Samuel Merritt this fall. I'm only doing this to provide a gauge for students so please take this as a grain of salt!!

GPA: 3.5 overall; 3.3 science
Graduated with a BS in Biological Sciences with University and Departmental Honors at Wayne State

MCAT: 20
PS: 7
VR: 4
BS: 9

Had over 50+ hours of shadowing a podiatrist
Have a publication
Held leadership positions in several student organizations (about 7)
Tutored inner city Detroit kids in reading and writing
Researched in two labs
Volunteered at a cancer institute and children's hospital
Teaching assistant for an introductory biology class

Schools I applied (I started my application in early May and got verified around mid-May):

Samuel Merritt: Interview invite; accepted with a Dean's scholarship
Scholl: Interview Invite; accepted with a Foundation scholarship
Kent State: Interview Invite; declined because I didn't want to turn down CSPM
NYCPM: Interview Invite; denied
Western: Interview Invite; declined because I did not want to travel anymore and I was content with my decision to attend CPSM
Temple: No interview invite; denied

I did not apply to the other 3 schools because I called them and they said their seats were about full and it would have been a waste of time and money to even submit my application to them.

Hope this helps! Again take this as a grain of salt! If you have questions feel free to PM me. I was on the same boat like many of the prospective students here and I received a lot of help from current students and I'd like to do the same with y'all! 🙂

Did NYCPM tell you why they rejected your application?.....you seem to have the stats for that school

Like the poster above me, my 4 on my verbal really stood out and during the interview there were many questions raised about that. Along with the fact that NYCPM was my first interview, I was really nervous and I was not able to give a good explanation to why I got such a low score. However, for my later interviews I was much more calm and had a answer in my head to the same question if it was asked again. Fortunately, that question about my verbal score was not brought up in my later interviews haha

4 Verbal probably did him in at Temple.

Scoring a 1-4 in any section on the MCAT will cause a red flag at many podiatry schools (from my understanding). AZPOD, DMU etc. I don't think will even look at a sub 5 in any section.

I am probably also an underdog gpa wise for podiatry with a 3.1 cgpa 3.1 sgpa BS, MS and a 26 mcat.
