I couldn't find the answer to this one in prior threads, so...

I was selected for AOA during my senior year, and recently got the letter in the mail that lists the membership options. Considering the cost of yearly dues, the $400 lifetime fee seems pretty reasonable, but are there really any advantages to having my dues paid up? A lot of residents I've talked to said that they just went without paying. I suppose that "AOA-member" status may be slightly more beneficial than simply "AOA-elected/non-member" for use on a fellowship/job application. What do you think? 😕

does it matter? i thought once you were selected for AOA you can just say AOA on any resume...it seems like purchasing the membership is only worthwhile if you want the Pharos or the other little perks they give out. I can't imagine fellowships/jobs would care if you shelled out 400 bucks or not.
