Someone mentioned to me today that in order to live in one of the 5 states, not only must you complete an osteopathic internship, but if you were to follow the DO internship by an allopathic residency, that this must also be approved by the AOA. I had always been under the impression that the internship was all you needed for liscensure. Was there any truth to this person's statement?

To obtain a license in one of the 5 states, you only need to do an approved AOA internship. Residency approval is not required except to sit for board certification under the AOA.
