I did not do an AOA internship, or any internship for that matter. Has anyone heard of a DO path resident getting approval by the AOA without having done any internship? Or am I just SOL?

Ha ha... if you're SOL, then so am I.

Actually I think I heard that that was an issue in just a handful of states... MI, FL come to mind.

Only some states require DO's to do an AOA internship to pratice in that state...
I know PA is on that list, and there are like 5 more states, but I dont remember which off the top of my head.

So I guess in a nutshell my question is, is there any chance that they will approve me, without having done anything remotely resembling an internship?

In states that dont require an internship... Sure, no problem.

In the states that require it? No, less than zero chance, it will not be concidered. You can not practice there.

Wait you are asking about residency?
As long as you are not required to have a perminent licence (and you generally are NOT required to have one,) even some fellowships can be fine.

But not actual practice.

DJMD,

I am referring to fellowship. I am planning on doing it in PA or FL.

But of course I didn't do a fellowship. Do I have to get approval by the PA or FL state osteopathic organization?

Thanks

Like I said residency should be no big deal, even some fellowships.
As far as WHICH fellowship and what you have to do. Try looking up/contacting the fellowships in question. (they prob have had DOs (or know that they can not)) I am jsut going off of things I heard from some DOs I know, I'm not one myself (it doesn't say DJDO :meanie:  )
