Hi everyone...I was just looking up hotels and flights for the American Optometic Association Meeting in June & thought it would be interesting to know which schools people will be attending from & what hotel they'll be staying at. I know that the main events are going to be in Mandalay Bay, but Luxor and Excalibur are other options as well. The whole point of this meeting is to meet other people, so it might be cool if we stayed in the same place. 🙂

Hi, Im the Trustee-elect for PCO and we'll be trying to get as many people to come out as possible. We most likely will all be staying at Luxor because of the cost. Looking forward to meeting everyone from other schools

Hey there! I would loooove to go, but I want to take my husband with me, so it'd be pretty expensive (not sharing the cost of the room with classmates). Has anyone been as a student? Is it really helpful as far as networking and board reviews? I'm sure it's a lot of fun, too, but I'm afraid fun alone won't justify over $1000 for my hubby and me.

Am I mistaken, or is Excalibur the cheapest of the three hotels?

If I get to go, it'd be awesome to meet some students from the other schools. 🙂

i'm a paraoptometric currently and will be applying to optometry schools this coming fall...anyways, the doctors at the office i work at is taking all of us to the aoa conference and we'll be staying at the mandalay bay...

We were told most students would be staying at the Excalibur.

The Excalibur is the cheapest of those three.

...also it has the cheapest games of Texas Hold 'Em, in case you were wondering. 👍

No, they won't turn away your pre-optometry butt.
They accept non-members, the price is a bit higher.
