Hi, I'm a junior in HS and have been contemplating as to which classes to take next year. Here's what I have so far: AP Calc AB, AP Chem, English electives, P.E., and Speech/AP Macro. This leaves me two more classes I can take and I am debating between three: AP Spanish Language, AP Stats, and AP Psychology. I've taken spanish every year so far and feel like I'm pretty good at it, but I want to do pharmacy so I'm guessing there is a higher chance of taking stats and psych in college than I do of taking spanish. Also, I heard the AP tests for pscyh and stats are relatively easier than others. But then again ap psych is going to be offered for the first time in our school and there is going to be a new ap stats teacher next year. Any suggestions on what to take?

If I were you, I would do AP Spanish & AP Psych. For Spanish, I'm guessing it looks good to college if you continue your language & AP Psych because you shouldn't do AP Stats. Here's why: I took AP Psych in junior yr and it was a great class & I enjoyed the course. I'm taking AP Calc AB atm and it's alot of hw, and if you're taking AP Stats on top of that...dude you will have no life, like literally. My friends are taking stats atm and it has alotttt of busy work (more than calc ab i think, but it depends on your teacher i guess... but then again it's an AP exam, so i'm thinking we all are learning the same thing in the end). Plus you also have AP Chem, so that's a hefty load.

Keep in mind that some AP courses will not be accepted by colleges-- so you should check out the school you're interested in and what courses they offered you to exempt in.

Also, you should choose the course that you like to do...most of your APs will get you out of the general course requirements, but i think you have to take the actual course for pharm requirements...so keep those things in mind.

If I were you, I would take like 3-4 AP and regs .... senior yr is so chill right now for me, haha. Plus keep in mind of the toll senioritis might have upon you 😛

AP Spanish so you can test out of foreign language and why not do BC calc?

perhaps because he took trig instead of precalc hn junior yr
looking at his already-selected courses, i would say he did a good thing picking AB... you don't want to kill yourself senior yr

Hmm... all of those choices seem great, actually. Personally I would choose Spanish and Psychology, since they seem more interesting. However, you'll have to take statistics and psych in college. It's part of the general curriculum in the beginning.

I myself am biased towards Spanish, since I took 6 years of it (7-12). Foreign language is not required in my major, but it's a great skill to have, especially if you want to go into healthcare. I also got psych credit, but I'm having to take stats right now.

Have fun in whatever you take!

AP Psych is an awesome course. Fun + teaches you a lot of interesting things that can applied right away.

I would take Spanish and Psych, but you should take whatever courses interest you the most.

Psych is a pretty sweet class, I think you'll learn a lot, and at an AP level you'll learn a lot more, it's not going to be all that challenging..

As for AP Spanish I'd say it would be a pretty good idea too, I'm in a Spanish IV class (our school doesn't have AP) and I find it harder to learn because theres a lot of kids in my class that aren't at the same level as me or other classmates, AP classes should give you more one on one with the teacher, which in the end may make it an easier class for you and look good on scholarship apps at the same time.

If your decent at math you'll be fine with AP stats, it's a pretty easy class(imo) but I found math was always my best subject

take psychology for sure, and AP spanish. Hopefully you will pass AP spanish and you wont have to take a foreign language class in college. I made the mistake of dropping it because i thought the "state" spanish test in my state would suffice. but unfortunately my college requires either AP, 4 semesters of spanish or to test out...which is not happening.

Thanks for all the input. I ended up deciding AP Psych and Spanish along with my other classes. Hopefully it won't be too bad. Sadly, I still gotta focus on the rest of junior year for now 🙁
