Hey guys,

Well, I am currently a junior in college and am a Biochemistry major with a 3.99 GPA. I decided my first semester that I wanted to use my AP credits for Chemistry 1, since I had worked hard in high school to get a 4 on the exam. I started researching dental schools and saw that many do not accept any AP credits for pre-reqs. It would suck if I would have to retake Chem 1 just because they do not accept it. I have taken many upper levels bio/chem courses and will be taking the DAT in August. If I score well on the DAT and apply, then will dental schools be lenient to look over the fact that I took AP credits for Chem 1?

You bring a 30 on your DAT and you may find that "what is stated on schools websites" instead of being "set in stone" is actually set in whipped cream.

Are there some schools on the top of your head that you know do not accept AP credits (like AP Biology, AP Chemistry)?
I am hoping to apply to all the Texas schools, Nova, ASDOH, Midwestern, and Oklahoma.

Survey of 53 schools:

Accept AP credits:
17.4% No
52.2% Yes, for some
30.4% Yes, for all

Of those that said yes:
35% English
15% Physics, Biology, Chemistry
30% All

To help your cause, take upper-division science courses, consider re-taking at 4-yr, must to appear on college transcript.

1) there are a bunch of schools that "accept" AP credit but...
2) they require you to take additional courses within that major

For example I used my ap bio credits to place out of 101 and 102 in my school and I had to take 2 upper level courses in biology in order to satisfy my "2 semesters of bio" requirement for dental schools.
