Hey guys, I have a question about AP credits and the pre-med curriculum. If I got a 5 on AP Calculus AB, should I use these credits to test out of Math 1 at my university? While the school will let me test out, I have heard that retaking this class will be an easy A and boost my sGPA. I am not trying to graduate early and wouldn't mind sitting through topics that I have already learned, but GPA is of the primary importance to me. Thanks!

Here on SDN, we don't make decisions for you. Like many before you, you've actually laid out your options AND provided an explanation for why you would make either choice. Now it's up to you.

This is a pretty small decision in the scale of life. Just decide.

@Hospitalized Please note that I am asking for others' opinions on the subject matter. Yes, I have considered my options, but I would like to hear other's insights or suggestions.
From reading other forum posts, I realized that this is a question that many premeds have and it would be helpful if someone can give any pointers. Thanks.

Sounds like you've answered your own question with the bolded.

I say that you stop being a p*ssy and instead take a class where you'll actually learn something. Just my opinion though. You need to take statistics anyway, that might count for your math requirement.

I got a 5 on AP Calc AB as well and skipped right to Calc 2, which ended up being a good decision. Sitting through a class that you've already taken is a waste of time and money. Either skip to Calc 2 (which, in my opinion, is much easier than Calc I), or just use stats to fulfill the math requirement and don't take any calculus at all.
