So I've been entering my course work to VMCAS using an unofficial copy of my transcript, but decided to fork over an extra 15 bucks and order an official copy just to be sure that everything is the same... Turns out, all the AP courses that are listed with course numbers and credit on my unofficial transcript are lumped into one "Advanced Placement = 40.0 credits" section of my official transcript. I definitely received course credit for them at my main school since without a few of them I would have been missing some required GE credit) and they definitely wouldn't have let me graduate. I had been banking on my 5 on the AP Stats test to fulfill the statistics requirement for a few schools, but now its looking like that may not be the case. Has anyone been in this situation before? Have schools been okay with it? Or not? I've emailed Davis, and will call them soon if I don't hear back, but I'm hoping someone out there has some insight into this situation before I truly start to panic.

Relatedly, if it turns out that I do have to take stats before next year, does anyone know of any awesome/cheap online stats courses out there? I've been out of school for over a year and I work full-time, so I'd rather not take anything too intense (already planning on taking microbio at a CC in the fall 🙁), but I do a decent amount of data analysis as part of my job, so I'm fairly confident in my ability to pass a basic statistics course.

Thanks!

Hello! My official transcript had my AP Courses listed individually by the name of the class it counted for. Does that make sense? Like my AP Psych counted for Intro to Psych or something like that. So my transcript said "intro to psych, psych 100, 3 credits, ap credit"

It didn't list the name of the ap course nor my ap score. This was sufficient for most of the schools I applied to. Two of them (I don't remember which) wanted a copy of my ap scores. My mother dug that out of a filing cabinets and I mailed them a copy. If you don't have the official score sheet anymore you may be able to contact the testing company for ap tests to send you a new one.

Checking with each school you're applying to is your best bet to be safe.

Unless I read wrong, OP's problem was that their transcript doesn't have the courses listed individually like that, which I could see being a problem. Mine was the same as yours though Stb, all the classes were individually listed that I had earned credit for.

OP, in addition to contacting all the vet schools you want to apply to, it may be worth contacting your undergrad institution as well to see what they have to say about this.

Why don't you just have ETS send official AP scores to the vet school? Sucks for the extra $$$, but if the school takes AP credit, that's about as official a proof as it gets. Just ask VMCAS if it would be ok before you shell out the moolah

Iowa State took AP credit for some of my classes and they were completely okay with me faxing a copy of a score report I still had from high school (actually wanted it in addition to having the credits listed on my transcript), so I didn't have to have official scores sent (and didn't have to pay for them). So, contact your schools and check what they really need in terms of official or not before you pay to order them.
Then again, things may be different this year with VMCAS verifying transcripts.

I had this problem last year when I was applying. If I recall correctly, they just listed one line item of "AP credit" and that was it. I called the undergrad registrar's office and explained the situation of how I needed each AP I took listed as an individual line item, along with the number of credits granted. They were able to add this information to my official transcript (and I did what you did - I ordered one after this just to be sure).

I echo what Frozenshades said - definitely contact your undergrad registrar to see if they can work with you. Mine at least did 🙂

Thanks everyone! I have emailed the registrars office to see what they can do about listing each test and the course it counted for on my official transcript when they send it out to VMCAS. Ill also be checking with each school I applied to to see if they want a more official copy from whoever has the AP scores, since chances are pretty minimal that I still have score reports hanging around from 6 years ago.

That's exactly how they listed mine, which is so incredibly frustrating since my unofficial transcript has them all listed out individually. I'm very glad that I ordered my own copy of the official transcript!

I know at least two of the schools i applied to said the AP score and appropriate credit given MUST BE on your undergrad transcripts to be able to use the AP score. So just sending the scores will not help in this case 🙁

Museum Nerd, that's definitely my worry; Davis had previously told me that.

The registrar's office from my undergraduate school says that they will not list the AP tests and class distribution on my transcript, but they will send out an official "AP Distribution Letter" with the registrar's seal... at the highly ridiculous price of $35. Hoping to hear back from the schools that need my AP scores soon. Hopefully if I send that form into VMCAS along with my transcript, that will work and I won't need to fork out an extra $35 per school.

Cheers to going broke in order to hopefully accumulate four years of massive debt! :bang:
