Just when you think you have APA down another question looms...and I have searched my manual.

What do you do when you are alerting the reader that from here on in you will use an acronym, but that acronym also forms part of your reference?...for example:

According to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) (1998)....etc.

OR

American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) (AACAP, 1998)

OR

American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP, 1998)

Does that makes sense? I am using the acronym for two different purposes -the first to say this is the acronym I will be using and the second to say this is the reference.

Thansk for your help, it is driving me crazy!
