I'm confused by a question i just did that described: "fragmented, hyperchromatic nuclei and small discrete blebs containing both cytoplasm and nuclear fragments"

Both apoptosis and coagulative necrosis were answer choices. But dont both of these cause pynkosis, karyorrhexis, and karyolysis? Not sure how I would know to pick one over the other.

Thanks!

Membrane blebbing is an organized and controlled process. The cell shrinks and small pieces of its membrane pinch off. Intracellular material is never exposed to the extracellular environment. It is a high yield buzz phrase for describing apoptosis.

Membrane rupture is more indicative of cellular necrosis and exposes intracellular contents to the external environment.
