App on hold notification from a school

Received a notification saying my app is on hold pending further review. I thought it was a rejection letter when I first saw it. What does this mean? Anyone else in the same boat?

i got one from UMB. they wanted me to clarify if I have already met their prereqs.

My application is complete, including secondaries, fees and scores. I am a little bummed, but I suppose I should be grateful it wasn't a rejection.
